The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) warned members of the public who are selling betel nuts in the Emergency Zone to stop selling it or police would arrest you.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) National Capital and Crime Prevention Mr Simpson Pogeava says, “Selling of betel nuts is prohibited during this time as per the orders. Honiara City Council (HCC) Law Enforcement and police will put up notices on market stalls in the Emergency Zone.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) will mount checkpoints in certain locations in Honiara to check public buses and taxis to ensure they are following health protocols when providing services to the public.

Commissioner of RSIPF Mr Mostyn Mangau says, “Police officers will check to ensure requirements orders are complied with, such as wearing facemasks in the public transport, not more than four people are in a taxi and two people per row in public buses.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested four male adult suspects in relation to a looting incident that happened in the early hours on 12 February 2022 in Chinatown.

Police Commissioner Mr. Mostyn Mangau says, “The incident happened early in the morning when a group of more 20 to 30 people came in and threatened the owner of the Chinese shop, enter and ransack the store.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the National Traffic Department are investigating a traffic accident, which involved a black Caldina car along the Mendana Avenue road, in front of the XJ6 shop in Honiara on 10th February 2022.

Supervising Director of the National Traffic Department Inspector Hugo Maelasi says, “The car was travelling in a westerly direction when it hit the rail between the central market and XJ6 shop area.”

Kingdom Harvest Ministry International (KHMI) has reconciled with Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) Contingent who were involved in an arrest of their zone pastor in relation to a Facebook post recently.

The reconciliation ceremony happened at Kingdom Harvest Church at Henderson on 9 February 2022 in the presence of Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) officers, parties involved in the matter and members of the KHMI congregation.

A male person from Aorigi village in Makira-Ulawa Province who went on a fishing trip on 7 February 2022 did not returned home as expected.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira-Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai said Kirakira Police has been contacting communities at Santa Anna and communities on the main island of Makira but these communities have not seen the canoe.

PPC Sitai said another attempt was made with Mami and Makorukoru communities in Makira, yet not successful due to poor mobile network coverage in the area.

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) has received fifty outboard motor engine and fifty boats from Australian Government during a Handing over ceremony held at the Maritime base in Honiara yesterday (3 February 2022)

The new 40 and 60 horse-powered outboard motors will boost the RSIPF’s capability to do remote policing and maritime security capability in all the provinces.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers who are currently in Brisbane begin their training conducted by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) on 31 January 2022.

Commander Telfer during his opening speech says, “The importance of the long standing relationship between the AFP and RSIPF is that the AFP remains a valued and preferred partner of choice of the RSIPF, shown by committing specialist RSIPF units to long-term world class training in Australia with the AFP.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) rebutted a social media post claiming that the high number of officers tested positive with COVID-19 was through close interaction with the Solomons’ International Assistance Force (SIAF) during the civil unrest in November 2021.

Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau says, “This is not true. Those intervention teams have been tested negative for COVID-19 before they flew to Solomon Islands. They have also tested and have negative results upon their arrival.”
