Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Tulagi Police Station have arrested a 15-year-old female for burning down a dwelling house at Salavo village in Central Province on 4 January 2022.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Superintendent David Soakai says, “An initial report on the incident said that the suspect went to the victim’s dwelling house and lit a fire on the walling while the victim was sleeping.”

PPC Soakai says, “Victim woke up and saw her house was on fire so she ran outside while her house burned to the ground.”

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have responded to a report of an explosion incident, which occurred at Mbarana area, North West Guadalcanal on 4 January 2021.

Initial reports said that the explosion occurred approximately 320m from the Mbarana Community. It is likely that a fire had been set over a bomb, which causes the explosion. Trees and vegetation in the area of explosion were also cleared off by the blast.

Police Response Team (PRT) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) were boosted with level three Public Order Management (POM) training, which was conducted by Australian Federal Police (AFP) Specialist Tactical Group at Rove police headquarters on 4 January 2022.

Central Response Unit, Guadalcanal Response Unit and Correctional Services Solomon Islands (CSII) Emergency Response Group (ERG) also form part of the training.

The training is a simulate real life situation when multiple incidents happening at the same time in different locations.

Police has found a female dead body yesterday (4 January 2022) near ZINOA Island, VOUZA area in North West Choiseul and was transported back to Taro by the Police search team and Taro Medical team.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) National Operation Ms. Evelyn Thugea says, “A close relative has identified the dead body and confirmed she is one of the passengers on board the 75 horse powered engine that has gone missing recently.

AC Thugea says, “The dead body started to decompose but a tattoo written at the back and the upper left arm was still visible to identify the body.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Tigoa in Renbel Province have arrested a Foreign National person male suspect in relation to an allegation of murder on the death of a 37-year-old male on 1 January 2023.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) National Operations Ms. Evelyn Thugea says, “It was alleged that the deceased and the suspect were arguing at a logging camp as a result they attacked each other and when the argument was over the deceased went home.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Henderson Police Station have arrested and charged a male person for burning down his aunt’s dwelling house on 26 December 2021.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province Chief Superintendent John Foru says, “It is alleged that the accused had an argument with his cousin brother (son of the victim) in relation to their past issues that have already been settled between families.”

Commissioner of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) Mr Mostyn Mangau visited Burns Creek community yesterday (30 December 2021) during a game that was conducted as part of community engagement with the communities during this festive season.

Commissioner Mangau and a few of his RSIPF Executive members spend time with the spectators to watch the game while other officers interact with the spectators around the sporting ground.

Eight officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have been promoted to different senior positions within the RSIPF during a brief ceremony held at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara today (30 December 2021).

Speaking at the ceremony, Commissioner Mostyn Mangau told the officers, “Your promotions are challenging as you take on the new leadership positions to drive the RSIPF.”

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) has fare welled four officers who have retired from the police during a ceremony held at Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara on 30 December 2021.

The four officers include one fire and rescue service officer, one officer from the Guadalcanal Province Headquarters and two officers from the Rove Police Headquarters serving in Honiara.
