Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the Henderson Police Station have arrested a 29-year-old male suspect for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl at the Lungga farm in Central Guadalcanal on 4 December 2021.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Inspector Mary Ake says, “At about 6pm on Saturday 4 December 2021 the victim was playing with other kids of her age in and around their dwelling house at the Lungga farm area.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team will conduct a live demolition of bombs at Hells Point, in the Alligator Creek area East of Honiara on Thursday 16 December 2021.

Officer In-charge (OIC) of EOD, Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “The Hells Point Demolition Range in Central Guadalcanal will be active as from 8am to 2pm (16 December 2021).”

The Naha community has assisted officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) to clean-up Naha police station over the weekend.

Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Naha Police Station, Superintendent Ben Jonathan said the community effort included men, women, youths and police officers working together to clean-up Naha police station.

“The major station clean-up took place on 11 December 2021 starting at 8.00 am up until late in the afternoon,” OCS Jonathan said.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested an adult male person who allegedly threatened families at the Harmock beach in North West Guadalcanal with a locally made replica firearm over the weekend.

The arrest was made after a male adult pulled out a replica firearm from a black RAV4 vehicle and threatened families residing along the road heading to the Harmock beach.

Commissioner of RSIPF Mr. Mostyn Mangau says, “I want to make a very clear statement here in relation to the news article that police are aware and investigating this matter very seriously.”

The Governor-General of Solomon Islands, His Excellency has signed into effect a Declaration under the Preservation of Public Security Act and subsequent Regulations giving effect to the Declaration.

The Preservation of Public Security (No.2) Regulations 2021 (LN 334 of 2021) comes into force today and effectively declares a curfew revoked in Honiara commencing today 10 December 2021 by the Governor-General.

Police have today welcomed the community support for the continued voluntary surrender of stolen property from the Honiara riots.

This follows significant amounts of stolen property surrendered or seized under warrant in greater Honiara over the past week.

Commissioner Mr Mostyn Mangau described recent police operations as an excellent example of cooperation and trust between the Solomons’ International Assistance Force (SIAF) contingents and the wider community.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Noro, Western Province, have saved a Telekom company building that was on fire on 7 December 2021.

Officer Commanding Station (OCS) in Noro, Inspector Robert Hickie said that report from Telekom Technicians discovered that a server room located inside the main commercial office was on fire.

“It was suspected that a battery terminal box was faulty and friction had ignited the fire,” Inspector Hickie said.

Police stations at Naha and Kukum remain closed to residents as a result of the recent social unrest.

Communities from these areas who need to access police services are advised to attend Central Police Station until further notice.

Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central police station, Superintendent Jimson Robo said these affected communities should use Central Police Station to access police services until normal operations are restored at Naha and Kukum police stations.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is appealing to all business owners affected by the protests, rioting, burning and looting of shops to formally lodge their details with police to assist with the ongoing police investigation.

RSIPF Commissioner Mostyn Mangau said: “My officers are recovering a large amount of stolen property from various locations in Honiara, as well as making arrests of those involved in the recent civil unrest.”
