Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) will be conducting a Render Safe Procedure task at AJ gravel site, from 8am to 2pm at the upper Lungga River in East of Honiara on 10 August 2021.

Officer In-charge (OIC) EOD team, Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “This was in response to a UXO report, reported to police previously by the local communities in that area. The UXO is currently not safe to be moved and requires a Render Safe Procedure (RSP) task.”

Several hundred family members, invited guests and officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) today witnessed the graduation of 68 recruit officers as police constables during a ceremony at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara today (6 August 2021).

This is the first recruit group for 2021. There are 28 women and 40 men in the group.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the Central Police Station in Honiara have arrested a 61-year-old male suspect for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl in Central Honiara recently.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City, Superintendent John Matamaru says, “It is alleged the rape incidents happened during two separate occasions at the victim’s house in Central Honiara. The first incident happened on 10 July 2021 and the second incident happened on 29 July 2021.”

Royal Solomon Islands Police Inspector Nevol Soko has been promoted to the rank of Superintendent as he becomes the Director of the Maritime Department.

Speaking during a brief ceremony at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara today (5 August) RSIPF Commissioner Mangau told the newly promoted Superintendent Soko, “We have the trust and confidence in you as you receive your letter of promotion to look after the Police Maritime Department. It is not easy to take up such a responsibility but you have proven yourself during your time when you supervised the office.”

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) will begin the second recruit course for this year on 23 August 2021 at the RSIPF Academy, Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara.

There will be a total of 70 recruits - 47 male and 23 female. The 70 recruits were selected from the nine provinces of Solomon Islands after going through the application process and selection criteria.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Kira kira Police Station in Makira-Ulawa Province are investigating the death of two male persons hit by a sliding log at Roto logging camp in Makira-Ulawa on 30 July 2021.

Initial report said that the two deceased are the local employees of Woodland logging company were taking their break while the Asian excavator operator was trying to pull one felled log from a concession area.

To: RSIPF Recruit Candidates 02/2021

Congratulations on your selection.

You have been selected to join Recruit Course 02/2021 commencing on Monday 23rd August 2021.

Prior to the official commencement of the Course, you are required to attend an induction and briefing session on Saturday the 21st August 2021, 09:00 am at the Police Academy, Rove. Failure to do so may result in your place being offered to a reserve candidate.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force, (RSIPF) at Tulagi and Yandina in Central Province have recorded 10 arrests in relation to the 10 reported cases last week.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Island, Superintendent David Soakai says, “Among the ten recorded cases, five cases of malicious damage, two cases for threatening violence, one each for criminal trespass, a simple larceny and one for indecent act.”
