Police in Isabel Province were carrying out an enquiry into the seven people missing at sea who are travelling from Sepi in Isabel Province to Buenavesta in Central Province by an Out Board Motor (OBM) on 10 July 2021.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Isabel Province Superintendent Leonard Tahimana says, “There are seven people on board the canoe. Six male and a female. All of them were adults. They travelled to Nagotano village in Central Province for a convention.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands police Force (RSIPF) in Western Province have arrested 72 people including six female in relation to an arson incident in Western Province on 7 July 2021.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu says, “There are three dwelling houses burnt down and other three permanent houses were looted and completely destroyed.”

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) would like to clarify an article published by Solomon Star newspaper over the weekend on mysterious missing money.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) National Security and Operation Support Mr Ian Vaevaso says, first I must put the facts right base on the article. To suggest that a ‘… link of a foreign advisor in the suspected delaying the conclusion of police investigation in to the matter’. This is not true and a matter subject to investigation.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the Henderson Police Station have charged a suspect with careless driving in relation to the fatal road accident at the Tenaru Bridge East of Honiara on 7 July 2021 that took the lives of five people.

The accused has been charged for causing death by reckless and careless driving, contrary to section 38(1) of the Road and Transport Act after he was arrested yesterday 8 July 2021.

Five people have died in a fatal accident at Tenaru Bridge last night and three people sustained injuries.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Superintendent Edwin Sevoa said the fatal accident involved a land cruiser traveling easterly direction towards the Tenaru Bridge and run through a group of people who were doing a fundraising in front of the old Tenaru Bridge.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Honiara City have arrested three suspects over the weekend during a police operation from 2 – 4 July 2021.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City Superintendent John Matamaru says, “First arrest done at a black market at Point Cruz area, which involved a 19-year-old male for selling of beer after hours. Second suspect arrested at Kukum area, which relate to a traffic offense and the third suspect is a female whom was arrested at Stone Field for brewing of kwaso.”

By-laws are not new kind of rules or laws. They already existed in our homes but died out due to our ignorance, a strong statement made by the Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Superintendent David Soakai during a launching of Hagalu community by-law on 4 July 2021.

PPC Soakai said police have participated and witnessed the launching of the community by-laws. More than hundred people including the Provincial Community Officer (PCO), Chiefs, Crime Prevention Committees (CPCs) and community elders attended and witnessed the signing of the by-laws.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Fraud Squad Unit within the National Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) at the Rove Police Headquarters have arrested and charged a male person for allegation of false pretense on 2 July 2021.

An initial report on the matter say the suspect was pretending to be a Member of Parliament, the owner of a company and he obtained nearly 100k from a Malaysian businessperson with intent to defraud between 11 and 14 November 2020.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Kirakira Police Station in Makira-Ulawa Province have witnessed the launching of Herenigai and Anuata communities by-law in west Makira on 28 and 29 June 2021.

The event was successfully implemented through consultations with the crime prevention office at Kirakira Police Station and other stakeholders.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) farewell two Solomon Islands Police Support Program (SIPSP) advisors in a ceremony held at Rove police headquarters yesterday (1 July 2021).

RSIPF Commissioner Mr. Mostyn Mangau acknowledged and greatly appreciated the service rendered by SIPSP advisors during their time assisting RSIPF during the past years.

“On behalf of all ranks and files of the RSIPF, I wish to acknowledge your contribution that you have made in different areas you served within the RSIPF organization during your time,” says Commissioner Mangau.
