Police at Kirakira are investigating a fatal road accident that took a life of a 30-year-old male person at Tahitarau logging road, Central Makira, Makira Ulawa Province on 29 June 2024.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira-Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai explain, “The deceased and nine male adults boarded a vehicle heading to the Tahitarau logging area to load sawn timbers. On their way back the driver (deceased) lost control of the vehicle as they went down the sloppy road, the vehicle overturned.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) EOD Department has successfully completed a week-long operation aimed at addressing the threat posed by unexploded ordnances (UXOs) which are being reported in the Russell Islands, Central Province recently.

UXOs are remnants of past conflicts that continue to pose significant risks to the safety and well-being of individuals at affected areas in Solomon Islands.

During the operation, the EOD team responded to multiple reports from the community and safely disposed of UXOs, ensuring the safety of people in Russell Islands.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Buala are investigating the death of a male person who was discovered deceased on the Shore of Tasia Island in Ysabel Province on 30 June 2024.

Acting Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Ysabel Province Inspector Harry Vanosi says, “The deceased had gone missing while returning home from Buala to his home village in Bagovu in a dugout canoe on 26 June 2024.”

PPC Vanosi says, “Relatives of the deceased confirms that he was taking alcohol at Buala during the day before he left for his home village around 5pm.”

Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and the China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) participated during St. John's Community High School sports day in Honiara recently.

CPLT donated sporting gears including net, football, volleyball and rugby to St. John's School, with the aim to increase teenagers' access to health and sporting activities.

Police officers and students had a good time playing football, basketball, volleyball, and other activities together.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Close Personal Protection Department (CPPD) with the China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) conducted a first batch of specialist training in Honiara last week.

12 CPPD officers have successfully completed a one-week training course and received certificates of completion.

The goal of this training is to promote loyalty, professionalism and operational capability of CPPD officers.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) National Crime Prevention Department (NCPD) took part with other stakeholders and Government institutions during an orientation program for Honiara City Council (HCC) Councillors recently in Honiara.

NCPD Director Superintendent John Matamaru says, “The main objective of our presentation is to strengthen our collaboration with the councillors and how we can support our community leaders to ensure that our population enjoys peace and harmony in the Capital.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers at Kirakira police station are investigating a suspicious death of a 30 year-old male person in Makira Ulawa Province on 8 June 2024.

It was alleged that the body of the deceased was found at the road side of Mamara village in Central Bauro, Makira Ulawa province.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira Ulawa Province Superintendent Peter Sitai explain, “When the deceased was found he has bruises on his body with two major wounds on his forehead and at the back of his head.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) National Crime Prevention Department (NCPD) along with its partners, recently visited leaders, elders and chiefs in the communities of Kukum and Choviri.

NCPD Director Superintendent John Matamaru says, “This initiative is purposely to introduce our partners to the community, building relationship, and understanding and identify the needs of the community to ascertain suitable solution to mitigate the growing concerns in the community.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Police Response Department (PRD) who are deployed to the Western border rebutted claims “PRT FED EXPIRED FOOD?” published on the front page of today’s Solomon Star newspaper (26/06/24).

Supervising Director of PRD Superintendent Lionel Kapisa says, “As stated in the article that member of the PRD has fallen ill due to ration packs supplied by the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and stated these packs being stored in shipping containers at Rove Police Headquarters (PHQ) is inaccurate.”
