Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the National Traffic Department in Honiara are investigating a traffic incident involving a police officer in a police vehicle at the Vavaya ridge road on 30 May 2021.

Assistant Police Commissioner (AC) National Operations Evelyn Thugea says, “It is alleged that the incident occurred at the Vavaya ridge road opposite Chiefs House.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Auki police station in Malaita Province have arrested two male person while conducting a vehicles check in Auki town on 31 June 2021.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) National Operations, Ms Evelyn Thugea says, “Both drivers were arrested on the same date on different locations and were charged with traffic offences.”

The first suspect was charged with one count of driving without a valid driving license contrary to section 20 (1) of the Road Transport Act.

Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) had a joint meeting with the Honiara City Council (HCC) Law Enforcement Division and Ministry of Infrastructure (MID) Road and Transport and recommended four bus stops within the Point Cruz area to be closed indefinitely as of today (7 June 2021).
The four bus stops are Mission place bus stop, the old Guadalcanal Province bus stop, Honiara Casino bus stop and the one right opposite to it. They have recommended that this will be done for trial basis on how to ease the traffic congestion experienced along the main road from Point Cruz.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team will conduct a live demolition of bombs at Hells Point, in the Alligator Creek area East of Honiara on Wednesday 09 June 2021.

Officer In-charge (OIC) of EOD, Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “The Hells Point Demolition Range in Central Guadalcanal will be active as from 8am to 2pm (09 June 2021).”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) yesterday (3 June 2021) farewelled three Solomon Islands Police Development Program (SIPDP) advisors in a ceremony held at Rove police headquarters.

RSIPF Commissioner Mostyn Mangau acknowledged and greatly appreciate the service rendered by SIPDP advisors during their time assisting RSIPF for the past years.

“On behalf of all ranks and files of the RSIPF I wish to acknowledge the contribution that you have made in different areas you serve within the RSIPF organisation during your time,” said Commissioner Mangau.

Suspect in relation to the murder of a 44-year-old female Chinese National at the White Angel building in Honiara has surrendered to police on 2 June 2021.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Crime and Intelligence Ms Patricia Leta says, “The murder suspect was handed over to the police last night (2 June 2021) by his parent.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Noro Police Station in Western Province are investigating a suspicious death of a 16-year-old female at Kindu village, Munda on 31 May 2021.

An initial report says that the deceased was last seen with her boyfriend near Kindu village after attending Kokeqolo Community High School. After few hours, her boyfriend alerted a neighbour that the deceased has fainted and they rushed her to Helena Goldie Hospital and later pronounced death.
