Law enforcement agencies attend Advance Criminal Intel Course

The second training course to build the intelligence ability of law enforcement agencies to allow for more effective inter-agency collaboration to combat criminal organised groups has got underway at the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF)Headquarters at Rove in Honiara today(1 December 2020).

The Solomon Islands Police Development Program, (SIPDP) is funding the Course and attended by 11 investigators from the RSIPF as well as Immigration, Financial Intelligence Unit and Customs departments. SIPDP advisors are delivering the training.

RSIPF officers undergo Drone Operator training

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) are undergoing a four-day drone operator training starting today (1 December 2020) at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara.

The RSIPF Drone Operator Training includes three Officers from the National Response Department, one officer from the National Intelligence Department (NID) and two officers from the Drone Support Unit at the Rove Police Headquarters. The Training will end on 4 December 2020

RSIPF Executive joins 16 Days of Activism

“Rape and sexual abuse is a serious crime punishable by law. Nobody ever ask or deserves to be raped or sexually abused. Men, woman, boys and girls we must respect each other.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Executive has joined the 16 Days of Activism to battle Gender Based Violence (GBV) in the country as from 25 November 2020.

RSIPF joins 16 Days of Activism

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Crime Prevention Department has joined other stakeholders in the 16 Days of Activism to battle Gender Based Violence (GBV) in the country as from 25 November 2020.

The 16 days of activism is an annual international campaign that commences on 25th of November with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and continues to 10 December for Human Rights Day. The 16 days campaign is used by organisations around the world to call for the elimination of violence against women and girls.

RSIPF arrests suspect for unlawful wounding in Makira Ulawa Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Kirakira Police Station in Makira Ulawa Province have arrested a man in his 20s for alleged unlawful wounding of a 48-year old man at Wango Village in West Makira on 13 November 2020.

Police be allege in Court that the suspect seriously wounded the victim on the face, hand and leg with a bush knife during an argument at Wango Village.

RSIPF officers undergo training on Infection Prevention Control

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) are undergoing five days of training on Infection Prevention Control (IPC) as part of its preparations for the coronavirus (COVID 19) pandemic.

The training, facilitated by the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, is being held over five days (26 November to 2 December 2020) at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara. Different groups of officers will be attending the training over the five-day period.

RSIPF receives renovated police barracks

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) now have better accommodation for its new recruits following the completion of renovations to the police barracks at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara

The Australian Government funded Solomon Islands Police Development Program (SIPDP) funded the renovations at a cost of $230,000.00. The refurbished barracks were handed over to the Commissioner of the RSIPF, Mostyn Mangau by the Acting Commander of the SIPDP Heath Davies during a brief ceremony today (27 November 2020).

RSIPF rescues male person in Western province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Gizo Police Station in the Western Province have rescued a 32-year-old male person on 20th November 2020 after his fibreglass boat was damaged in rough seas encountered while travelling to Kolombangara Island.

An initial report on the incident said the 32-year old man left Gizo in a fibreglass boat powered by a 15 horsepower Yamaha engine when he encountered high swells between Kolombangara Island and Makuti Island causing damage to his boat. The man managed to travel ashore at Makuti Island and unload his cargo.

RSIPF calls for respect as festive season approaches

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) calls on all citizens of the capital Honiara to show respect for one another as the country approaches the festive season.

“RSIPF Commissioner Mostyn Mangau explains, “Our capital city is a place where people with different ethnic backgrounds live. As we approach the festive season, a lot of events will be organised by the different communities. Let us be responsible and show respect for one another.”

RSIPF appeals to public to think sea safety as festive season approaches

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) appeals to all members of the public throughout the country who are planning to travel by boat and outboard motor (OBM) to be aware of sea safety measures as people travel to their home islands to celebrate Christmas and New Year 2021.

The boats and OBMs carrying passengers have to meet all safety requirements before leaving port.
