The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Sexual Assault Team in Honiara arrested and charged a 23-year-old man on 29 October for alleged sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl in West Honiara on 20 October 2020.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Crime and Intelligence Patricia Leta says, “The defendant who was reportedly drank at the time arrived home and approached the victim. He then carried the victim to his house where he allegedly sexually assaulted her.”

The Sexual Assault Team (SAT) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested and charged a 38-year-old male person for allegedly raping a 11-year-old girl at Tuvaruhu in Central Honiara on 28 October 2020.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Crime and Intelligence Patricia Leta says, “The defendant in this alleged rape incident is from the Reef Islands, Temotu Province and is an uncle of the victim. The defendant lived with the victim’s family in the Tuvaruhu area during the time of the alleged offence.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force, (RSIPF) National Traffic Department recorded 10 traffic incidences during the period 23 to 29 October 2020 in Honiara compared to the previous week when 33 cases were reported.

Complainants reported six of the cases while officers of the National Traffic Department reported four cases.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Buala, Isabel Province are investigating an alleged defilement incident involving an adult male with a 12-year-old girl at Kolopakisa Village in Kia between 2015 and 12 September 2020.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Isabel Province, Superintendent Leonard Tahnimana says, “The alleged incident was reported to have happened sometime between 2015 and 12 September 2020 when the suspect invited the victim and two of her small brothers to watch movies at the suspect’s house at Kolopakisa Village.”

The Soltuna cannery at Noro in the Western Province should now be able to deal with a fire incident following the completion of a nine-day training program on the use of fire extinguishers and structural firefighting held at Noro from 9 to 19 October 2020.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Fire and Rescue Service in Honiara travelled to Noro to conduct the training for 142 senior fire brigade members as well as new officers at the Soltuna cannery.

More than 60 members from seven communities in East Honiara now have a better understanding of the work of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) to assist them in tackling crime within their communities following a training workshop held recently in Honiara.

The RSIPF National Crime Prevention Department organised the training for community members of Feraladoa, Jericho one, Jericho two, Gegema, Three 7, Fulisango and Mud land in East Honiara.

Members of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Executive will benefit from eight laptops funded by the Australian Government through the Solomon Island Police Development Program (SIPDP) to assist in the COVID-19 operation.

Commander of SIPDP Mark Ney handed over the laptops to the Commissioner of Police, Mostyn Mangau during a brief ceremony at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara today (28 October 2020).

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Tulagi in Central Province have arrested two suspects for an alleged attempted rape incident and a separate alleged incident of domestic violence on Savo Island on 20 October 2020.

The suspects were escorted to Tulagi Police Station from Monago and Bonala villages on Savo Island.
