Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Tigoa Police Station have arrested two suspects in their 30s following the fatal stabbing today (26 January 2020) of an Indonesian national employed by the Bintang Mining Company operating on Rennell Island.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Provincial Mr Joseph Manelugu says, “It is alleged the deceased had an argument with two locals from Rennell and as result one of the locals stabbed the victim on his forehead.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Kirakira Police Station have arrested and charged a-30-year-old man for the selling of liquor without a license at Parego Village in East Makira on 21 January 2020.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira-Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai says, “Police managed to confiscate 59 cartons of beer with thousands of dollars in hard cash. The cash and cartons of beer will remain under police custody as exhibits until the Court decides on what to do.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Tulagi have arrested a male suspect in his 40s following an alleged attempted rape on a 20-year-old female at Sesepi Village, Savo Island, in Central Province on 7 January 2020.

Information received by Police say that on the morning of 7 January 2020, the suspect, who is an uncle of the victim, asked her to follow him into the bush away from the main village to collect some betel nut fruits.

Members of the family of a 16-year-old boy who allegedly committed suicide have accepted the cause of death of their son at Koda Village in the Paru area of North West Guadalcanal on 21 January 2020.

Information received by police revealed that prior to the death of the young boy, his father noticed his son’s action to be different from usual. In the afternoon prior to his death, the deceased asked his mother twice to use her mobile phone but her mother instead stopped him to make calls in the presence of his sister due to custom.

An officer of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has been suspended from duties in connection with the disappearance of a vehicle which was detained at the Police Kukum Traffic Centre after being involved in an accident in September 2019.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Kia Village in the Isabel Province have confirmed that the boat missing while travelling between Gizo and South Choiseul on 15 January has been found but without the nine people that were travelling on board the boat.
The nine people included five male, two female and two children.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Gizo have arrested a male suspect in his 40s following an alleged grievous bodily harm incident at Uzamba, Vella La Vella Island Western Province on 18 January 2020.

Information received by police say on 17 January 2020, the accused told the victim and others to help him dig posts for his dwelling-house and promised that he will provide them a home-made island ram drink after the job had been completed.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Tulagi are investigating the death of an adult male person from Wagina in his 50s at the Tulagi wharf in Central Province on 16 January 2020.

Acting Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Inspector Hugo Maelasi says, “It is believed that prior to his death the deceased was consuming alcohol with his crewmates on board the vessel ‘360 Flayers’ on the evening of 16 January 2020.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Auki are investigating two traffic accidents, which happened at two different locations in Malaita Province on 10 January 2020.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Superintendent Solomon Sisimia says, “The first accident happened at Mage Village Central Kwara’ae and the other along the Kwainamoro main road via Aligegeo Secondary School. Both accidents happened between 1 and 2pm in the afternoon.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Henderson Police Station are investigating a store break-in at the Alligator Creek area in Central Guadalcanal.

Prior to the incident at 10pm on Sunday 5 January 2020 the complainant, a Bangladesh national, closed down his store and left his security guard to look after the premises.

It is alleged the suspect entered the store by cutting the walling of the store and removing valuable items.
