Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) on 15 January 2020 destroyed the 12-meter two-masted yacht 'Vieux Malin' which was confiscated in September 2018 in an operation, which discovered 500 kilograms of the illegal drug cocaine in the yacht off Honiara.

The yacht was destroyed at sea between Ngela and Guadalcanal.

Representatives of communities in West Honiara are attending a two-day workshop on the Crime Prevention Strategy organised by the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Rove Police Headquarters 14 to 15 January 2020.

More than 30 participants including male and female leaders of some communities in West Honiara are attending the workshop.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Western Province have arrested a man for the alleged attempted murder of his cousin brother at Guratokovolale Village, Vella la Vella on 8 January 2020.

The accused and his cousin brother were reportedly drinking homebrew at their Village prior to the incident.

It is alleged that an argument broke out between the two men and as a result, the accused attacked the victim on the head several times with a stick resulting in the victim falling unconscious on the ground with wounds to his head.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Auki, Malaita Province have arrested a 66-year-old grandfather for allegedly raping his 9-year-old granddaughter last year 2019.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Superintendent Solomon Sisimia says, “The RSIPF Auki Family Violence team is currently investigating the alleged sad incident of a grandfather raping his 9 year-old granddaughter.”
“The alleged rape occurred on five different occasions since last year in a village in the East Kwara’ae region.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Central Province have arrested 21 suspects during the Christmas and New Year’s Festive Operation in Yandina, Savo and Ngella.

RSIPF officers at Tulagi and Yandina conducted the operation.
Acting Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Inspector Hugo Maelasi says, “The suspects were arrested for different offences including unlawful assembly, unlawful wounding, criminal trespass, threatening violence, common assault and restriction on making liquor.”

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) has thanked the outgoing Commander of the Solomon Island Development Program (SIPDP) John Tanti for the great work he had done towards capacity building of the RSIPF during his three-year term.

Commander Tanti was farewelled during the weekly RSIPF Commissioner’s parade held at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara today (9 January 2020).

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) are investigating the suspicious death of a 40-year-old man at Rarata Village, on North East Guadalcanal on 2 January 2020.

Acting Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Superintendent Nixon Manetoga says, “On 2 January 2020 at about 10 am Tetere Police received a report from Rarata Village that there was a dead body found in a cocoa plantation behind the Village."

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) confirms that the two persons from the Visale area on West Guadalcanal who went missing at sea during a fishing trip on 28 December 2019 are now safely ashore at Tangerare.

Director Police Maritime, Chief Superintendent Charles Fox Sau says, “The boat landed safely yesterday (30 December 2019) at Tangarare while fishing.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) are continuing with its ‘Operation Hunt Man’ after three inmates escaped from the Correctional Services Solomon Islands (CSSI) Rove Prison on 15 December 2019.

Acting Commissioner RSIPF Mostyn Mangau says, “It’s been more than two weeks and we appeal to the general public to supply more and accurate information to your police so that we recapture the three convicted inmates. We urge members of the public to contact your nearest police station if you see or have any information on the whereabouts of the escaped prisoners.”
