The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) appeals to the good people of Solomon Islands to have a crime-free and safe New Year 2020 celebration throughout the country.

“I want to remind our good loving people to have a crime-free and safe New Year 2020 celebration. My message to you all is, always do the right thing and more importantly respect each other,” says Acting Commissioner of RSIPF Mostyn Mangau.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) calls on members of the public to quickly report any person missing at sea after two persons from the Visale area in West Guadalcanal went missing at sea during a fishing trip on 28 December 2019.

Director Police Maritime, Chief Superintendent Charles Fox Sau says, “It’s not good to report such an incident after 48 hours. My office only received this report just this morning (30 December 2019) after the incident happened on 28 December 2019.”

The Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira-Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai thanks people in the province for a peaceful Christmas celebration despite few reports received by police of incidents during the festivities.

PPC Sitai says, “I wish to thank everyone more especially the chiefs, youth, church and women leaders, and everyone else for contributing to a peaceful celebration."

“I know the New Year celebration is still coming up. As your PPC, I wish to call on everyone not to allow alcohol consumption to dominate your celebrations."

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) are investigating the discovery of the body of a three to four-month old female baby floating at sea close to the Vila area in West Guadalcanal on 26 December 2019.

Acting Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Superintendent Nixon Manetoga says, "It is believed the incident happened between 3:30 pm and 9: 30 pm on 26 December. Police further believe that the infant baby girl belongs to a woman from Savo Island who is staying at Vila.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the Henderson Police Skķtation have arrested two suspects for attacking a 60-year-old man at Titinge Village in North West Guadalcanal on 27 December 2019.

Acting Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Superintendent Nixon Manetoga says, “My officers attended to the report of an alleged assault causing bodily harm at Titinge Village and arrested two suspects.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Auki have arrested three suspects for the alleged brewing of kwaso at West Fataleka on 27 December 2019.

Officer In-Charge (OIC) at the Auki Police Station, Inspector Tex Tafoa says, "Police at Auki and the Provincial Response Unit (PRU) worked together with police at Malu'u in North Malaita to conduct kwaso raids at eight different locations in the West Fataleka region on 27 December.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the Henderson Police Station have arrested a 53-year-old man in relation to the death of his 10 years old daughter at Midi Village, Aruligo, West Guadalcanal on 27 December 2019.

Acting Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Superintendent Nixon Manetoga says, “We attended to the incident after receiving a report from a village elder at Aruligo who said that they found the dead body of a 10-year-old girl inside her house at Midi Village on the Aruligo sea side.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) are investigating the death of a 40-year-old person in the Henderson area east of Honiara on 26 December 2019.

Acting Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Superintendent Nixon Manetoga says, “My officers attended to a report of a man whose dead body was found in the SA area just behind the Police Married Quarters at Henderson.”

“The dead body was found this morning at about 8.30am. Police condoned the crime scene and police forensics attended and conducted an examination.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Central Province have conducted a two-day workshop on the Crime Prevention Strategy at Yandina in the Russell Islands from 16 to 17 December 2019.

Acting Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Inspector Hugo Maelasi says, “A total of 30 CPC members including two females, attended the training. They were from Yandina, Bulolo, Sunlight, Ligatu and Louna villages.”
