Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Noro, Western Province are investigating an alleged murder incident which resulted in the death of a –two-year old female child in the township on 18 April 2020.
Officer Commanding Station (OCS) in Noro, Staff Sergeant MacArthur Pania says, “A mother and her two children were at their house at Backway, Noro. The mother was in the room while the two children were in the veranda having mince for lunch.”
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in the Rennell and Bellona Province today farewelled their colleague officer the late Police Constable (PC) Katea Puia during a funeral service at the Ngongona Seventh Day Adventist Church on Bellona Island after he passed away on 18 April 2020 following a short illness.
Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) National Traffic Department in Honiara have arrested a 22-year-old male person who was the driver of a motor vehicle involved in an accident at the Honiara City Council (HCC) roundabout early yesterday (16 April 2020) morning.
The vehicle involved in the accident is a black Toyota Caldina registration number MC-1266. There were two female passengers in the vehicle with the driver at the time of the accident. The three escaped without any injuries.
The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) Prosecution Department will charge and re-bail 58 suspects that were released by the Magistrates Court early this week following no charges laid against them for breaching the curfew under State of public Emergency which was enforced last weekend.
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is engaging with communities in the Solomon Islands side of the common border with Papua New Guinea to assist in the fight to prevent the COVID-19 virus from entering Solomon Islands.
“We are working with communities to bring back the Coastwatchers,” says RSIPF Assistant Commissioner (AC) Provincial Policing Joseph Manelugu. “The security of our borders against this virus is the responsibility of all Solomon Islanders.”
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and other law enforcement agencies are increasing their presence at the Solomon Islands – Papua New Guinea common border region from the Shortland Islands, Choiseul Province and the Malaita Outer Islands with arrival of the patrol boat Gizo in the western border region carrying more police, Immigration, Customs and Health Officers.
The increased presence is to enforce the COVID-19 Emergency Powers restricting the movement of small craft vessels across the SI-PNG common border region which became effective last Thursday 9 April 2020.
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City, Chief Superintendent Stanley Riolo denies allegations levelled against officers of his City Response Unit (CRU) by some members of the public in the Kukum area of East Honiara about the officers’ actions during the curfew hours early Sunday morning.
PPC Riolo says, “Between 3 to 4am on the morning of Sunday 12 April 2020, CRU officers were on mobile patrol around the Kukum area during the curfew hours.”
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force, (RSIPF) National Traffic Department have recorded a total of 28 traffic incidences in the period 3 to 9 April 2020 in Honiara compared to the previous week when only a total of eight cases were reported.
This is 20 more cases then reported the previous week.
Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police force (RSIPF) in Tulagi in the Central Province have arrested two male suspects following an alleged unlawful wounding incident involving a 28-year-old male victim at Burunia Village, on Small Ngella on 12 April 2020.
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Tulagi Police Station are investigating the sudden death of a 50-year-old male at Bona Village, Sunfly Bonavester, in the Central Province on 4 April 2020.
An initial report received by police says the deceased and his wife left Kasika Island in a dugout canoe with a 20 kilogram bag of food and were heading home after market. Approaching Havulo Island, they encountered strong winds and the deceased dropped off his wife to walk to the other side of Takadora Point while he will try to paddle around the Point.
