The Media Unit of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have successfully completed a one day basic skills training on video production.

The training focuses on filming and creating video content for RSIPF Facebook page. The training happened on 10 May 2024 at the Rove Police Headquarters.

The training was facilitated by the Australia Defence Force (ADF) in support of the Australia Federal Police (AFP) and Fiji Police Media Unit.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Maritime Department has farewelled their outgoing Director Chief Superintendent Russell Tagini and two maritime base officers at Maritime base in Honiara on 10 May 2024.

The farewell ceremony which took place at the Maritime base was marked with a parade where officers were honoured for their contributions and service to the Maritime Department.

The event was attended by the Assistant Commissioner (AC) National Operations Everlyn Thugea.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) wishes to confirm that an article circulated on social media on 9 May 2024 entitled a ‘public letter from the officers of the RSIPF’ is not from RSIPF and this article is grossly misleading.

The RSIPF believes the article was a disinformation tactic made for the interest of someone to tarnish the good work of China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) in Solomon Islands and the good reputation and leadership of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mr. Ian Vaevaso.

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) conducted a thanksgiving service at Wesley United church in Honiara on 8 May 2024 after a successful police operation for the joint elections and election of the Prime Minister last week.

During the thanksgiving service all security partners were attended and all ranks and files of RSIPF from Guadalcanal Police and Honiara base police officers.

The thanksgiving service was organised by National Emergency Management and Special Event Planning (NEMSEP) with the Wesley United church.

The Honourable Prime Minister (PM) Mr. Jeremiah Manele has praised the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) and security partners for successful police operation for the National General Election 2024 (NGE 24) and Election of the Prime Minister recently.

In his remarks during the visit he said, “I am delighted to join you all this morning to recognize the sterling efforts and work of RSIPF as well as our Pacific Regional Partners in maintaining law and order during recent NGE 24 and the election of the Prime Minister.

While the whole of Honiara locked up with police presence during the election of the prime minister on 2 May 2024, Burns Creek community engaged in soccer and volleyball as part of community engagement of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF).

The National Crime Prevention Department of the RSIPF has engaged with the Burns Creek community to bring the youths both boys and girls in a seven a side soccer and volleyball.

The nationwide liquor ban for Solomon Islands enforced by the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) was lifted today 3 May 2024.

The RSIPF Deputy Commissioner (DC) National Security and Operation Support (NSOS) and the Overall Commander for the election of Prime Minister (PM) Mr. Ian Vaevaso said the liquor ban has now been lifted but police will continue with its security operation.

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) is appealing to the social media users to stop inciting posts on Facebook.

The appeal came after some Facebook users posted some hateful and inflammatory posts that were going viral targeting certain people and Provinces after the election of Prime Minister on 2 May 2024.

The RSIPF Commissioner Mr. Mangau made this appeal to those people who used fake Facebook accounts to stop doing that. Sharing and screen shots of those inciting posts should be stopped.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Deputy Commissioner Mr. Ian Vaevaso would like to inform the general public that there will be no curfew on the election of the new Prime Minister on 2 May 2024 as speculated on social media.

Operation Commander, Deputy Commissioner (DC) National Security and Operation Support Mr. Vaevaso said it advisable to be prepared should police issue any instruction for possible curfew.
