Keeping a social distance of one to two meters from each other is a good practice to prevent COVID-19.

This was one of the key messages highlighted during the awareness talks held by the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) on 26 March 2020 for its officers in the Western Province to prevent any outbreak of the virus.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police force (RSIPF) in Honiara have arrested a suspect following an alleged incident of discharging fire arm in the Tinge Ridge area in West Honiara on 22 March 2020.

Director of the National Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) Chief Superintendent John Rove says, “The suspect was arrested but yet to be charged as police are continuing their investigation into the alleged matter.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is urging residents of Honiara City to secure their properties as people travel back to their homes in anticipation of a coronavirus (COVID 19) outbreak.

Solomon Islands is yet to record a positive coronavirus case.

As part of its support for the government agencies leading the fight against a potential coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in the country, officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the Rove Police Headquarters and a health worker in Honiara are travelling to the provinces to conduct awareness talks to police officers starting today (24 March 2020).

Following the presentations the Provincial officers will then share this information with communities to assist the Ministry of Health in raising awareness about prevention and hygiene.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has begun awareness talks about the corona virus to its own officers and members of their families as the country continues to prevent the virus from entering the country.

On 20 March 2020 officers of the RSIPF Human Resource Department at the Rove Police Headquarters conducted awareness talks at the Headquarters, the Rove Police Married Quarter, the White River Police and the Cops Land Executive Quarters. A second team also visited the Tetere and Henderson Police Stations on Guadalcanal as well as their Married Quarters

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the White River Police Station are conducting a general enquiry into the sudden death of an adult male person at Tasahe A in West Honiara on 23 March 2020.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City Chief Superintendent Stanley Riolo says, “Police were called to the place of incident and officers from the Police Forensic Department secured the area and conducted an enquiry at the scene while the St John Ambulance transported the body of the deceased to the National Referral Hospital (NRH).”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the National Traffic Centre in Honiara have arrested a male Chinese national following a fatal accident on 21 March 2020 in the Ranadi area of East Honiara.

The Chinese national is an employee of the AJ Hardware Company Limited.
