Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Henderson and Marau Police Station have arrested 21 suspects following the alleged murder of an adult male person at Malaisu Village in south Guadalcanal on 19 March 2020.
According to Sergeant Nester Koloni, who is leading the investigation into the incident, the first group of nine suspects were transported to Honiara on Saturday 21 March 2020 and a further 12 suspects were transported to Honiara on Sunday 22 March 2020.
Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the Naha Police Station are conducting a general enquiry into the death of an adult male person who allegedly committed suicide at the Gilbert Camp area in east Honiara on 17 March 2020.
An initial report received by police says early in the evening of 17 March, the deceased appeared drunk when he arrived home at Gilbert Camp.
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the White River Police Station have arrested two male suspects on 16 March 2020 following an alleged incident at the Solomon Motor Limited in the Tandai Area of West Honiara in the early hours of 14 March 2020.
Properties including the windscreen of a vehicle, the glass windows of a shop and a fuel pump were damaged during the alleged incident.
Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the Henderson Police Station are investigating the alleged malicious damage of runaway lights at the Honiara International Airport on 11 March 2020.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Chief Superintendent Ishmael Vunagi explains, “Police received the initial report that there were 11 runaway lights including five on the north side, five on the southern side and one on the turning side of the airport were either smashed or pulled out with their stands.”
Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the Taro Police Station together with an officer of the Immigration Department have arrested a male person from Papua New Guinea on allegation of entering Solomon Islands illegally on 13 March 2020.
The male person was arrested at Taro and placed in custody after being charged with three counts under the Immigration Act.
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Professional Standard and Internal Investigation (PSII) has completed its investigation into the traffic incident involving police officers in a police vehicle near Auki, Malaita Province allegedly hitting two pedestrians on 29 February 2020.
Acting Commissioner of Police Mostyn Mangau says, “After receiving the report from the PSII, the Commissioner’s office will take further action against the three officers based on the evidence provided in the report.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have been deployed to Lambi, west Guadalcanal today to investigate a land slide which has reportedly covered eight people following the current bad weather affecting the whole country.
Initial reports say eight people including children were covered by the land slide when it washed down to the village from a nearby hill yesterday (12 March 2020). Two dead bodies have already been recovered while the others are still missing.

A recent three-day Court Circuit at Yandina in the Russell Islands, Central Province heard 22 cases resulting in the conviction and imprisonment of four suspects after being found guilty on various charges.
