RSIPF mourns the loss of a long serving officer

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) mourns the loss of one of its long serving officers the late Police Sergeant Edwin Manuga who passed away in Honiara 22 February 2020 after a short illness.

A funeral service for the late Manuga was held in Honiara on 24 February before his body was transported back to his home village of Rakao at Takwea in north Malaita.

The late Sergeant spent most of his 30 years in the RSIPF with the Maritime Department after being recruited on 8 February 1990. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in April 1997.

RSIPF impressed with work of CPCs in Choiseul Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Taro Police Station have thanked the Crime Prevention Committees (CPC) of Panarui and Sasamunga in South Choiseul for bringing forward five suspects who allegedly committed different crimes in their communities to the police on 13 February 2020.

Police recapture two escapees at Burns Creek area this morning

The Police Response Team (PRT) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) has recaptured prison escapees Frank Firimolea and Dilo Faiga at the main entry junction road to Burns Creek market between 11 and 11:45am on 15 February 2020.

Acting Commissioner Mostyn Magau says, “PRT have recaptured the two prison escapees with the help of communities through the provision of accurate information.”

RSIPF investigates alleged sexual assault incident involving 5 yr-old girl in Malaita Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force at the Auki Police Station are investigating an alleged incident of sexual assault on a 5-year-old girl by an old man in his 50s at High Hill Village in the Fauabu area, West Kwara’ae in Malaita province on 7 February 2020.

The victim was sent by her parents to a nearby bush to collect fruit leaf for chewing betel nut when she met the suspect.

It is alleged that while in the bush, the suspect sexually assaulted her by using his finger on the victim’s private part.

RSIPF officers to benefit from leadership management training course

Leadership management within the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) will benefit from a Certificate IV course in leadership and management which officially opened today (10 February 2020) at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Corporate Support Ian Bara says, “The Solomon Islands Police Development Program (SIPDP) is sponsoring the training for Sergeants, Staff Sergeants and Inspectors.”

RSIPF arrests 30 year-old man for attempted murder in Malaita Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Auki have arrested a 30-year-old man for alleged attempted murder following an incident that occurred in the Kwaibaita area in East Kwaio, Malaita Province in 2019

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Inspector Charles Eddie Koto says, “The suspect was arrested in 2019 after the incident but he escaped from police during the investigation into the matter.”

RSIPF arrests three suspects for alleged attempted murder

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force at the Naha Police Station have arrested three youth suspects following an alleged attempted murder incident in the Gilbert Camp area in East Honiara in the early hours of 27 January 2020.

Initial reports say that prior to the incident, the victim left his house and walked down to the Solomon Water area at Gilbert Camp where a drill was located with intension to check the area since stealing is common within the area.
