Two Malaysian nationals working with the Asian company Samlinsun in Honiara will face charges of attempted murder following an incident at the company’s premises in the Lungga area east of Honiara on 24 August 2019.

Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Operation Manager Guadalcanal Province on Inspector Edwin Sevoa says, “Police at the Henderson Police Station were called to an incident at the Samlinsun area in Lungga on the afternoon of 24 August 2019.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested a second suspect a suspect in connection with the burning of two buildings at Tigoa in West Rennell, in the Rennell and Bellona Province on the night of 25 July 2019.

The second suspect, a 21-year-old male person was arrested at Tigoa in the evening of 23 August 2019. The first suspect, a 29-year-old male person was arrested in the morning of the same day.

The two suspects have been flown to Honiara yesterday (25 August) for further processing and remand as investigations into the incident continues.

About 60 officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) will participate in the Exercise Coastwatchers 2019 which will be conducted within the vicinities of Choiseul and Western Provinces with officers of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) from today (26 August) to 5 September 2019.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force in Honiara City have arrested and charged a 39 year-old woman for an allegation of brewing kwaso at Aekafo, Vara Creek in Central Honiara on 23 August 2019.

The accused and his nephew, a 30 year-old male were taken by surprise when police officers raided their home and arrested the accused.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Henderson have arrested a 51-year-old father with his two sons and another relative following a robbery incident in the Lungga area east of Honiara on 11 August 2019.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Force (RSIPF) at Auki in Malaita Province are investigating the possible cause of a fire which burnt down the dining hall at the Aligegeo Provincial Secondary School in the early hours of today (23 August 2019).

RSIPF Operation Manger Malaita Province, Inspector Charles Edward Koto says, “Police here at Auki responded to a report about the fire which happened between 1 and 2 am this morning and managed to save the school kitchen while the dining hall was totally burned down.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) this morning (23 August 2019) arrested a suspect in connection with the burning of two buildings at Tigoa in West Rennell, in the Rennell and Bellona Province on the night of 25 July 2019.

The suspect, a 29 age male person is being held at the Tigoa Police Station in West Rennell as arrangements are underway to transfer the suspect to Honiara where he will be formally charged.

Twelve officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have successfully completed a four-week training program organised by the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) in Port Moresby from 25 July to 21 August 2019

The course was facilitated following the RPNGC donating five Police motorcycles to the RSIPF earlier this year, as a result of downsizing from the APEC PNG 2018 operations. The donation and training is part of implementing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two Melanesian neighbours’ Police Forces in June 2019.

The next deployment of officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) to the western border with Papua New Guinea have left Honiara yesterday (19 August 2019) on the Patrol Boat LATA.

This new deployment will replace the other group of officers who have been stationed in the Shortland Islands for the past month. The deployment of officers of the Police Response Team (PRT) and others from Western and Choiseul provinces started at the beginning of this year as the first phase a strategy to secure the Solomon Islands side of the common border with Papua New Guinea.
