Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested a 47-year-old man last week in relation to the death of a 19-year-old girl in a logging Camp at Jericho, North New Georgia, Western Province.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) of Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu explains: “The death of the 19-year-old happened last month on 11 July 2019, which the body of the deceased was discovered inside her room on the morning of that day.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) serving the Guadalcanal Province (GP) have arrested and charged four suspects during a one-week operation targeting the use of illegal alcohol and drugs in Central, East and North East Guadalcanal on 25 July to 3 August 2019.

The suspects were arrested and charged for the offence of restriction of making liquor contrary to section 50 (2) of the Liquor Act and will appear before the Honiara Magistrates’ Court on 26th August 2019.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Temotu Province are investigating a vehicle accident at Nea Village on 31 July 2019 when a three-ton truck over turned after it experienced a mechanical problem.

It is alleged the vehicle with 20 passengers on board experienced a problem with its engine as it was driving up a small hill. The vehicle then rolled back and turned over. Six of the passengers were injured and taken to hospital for treatment

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is continuing its investigation into the burning of two buildings at Tigoa, in West Rennell on the night of 25 July 2019

Commissioner of Police, Matthew Varley told local journalists who attended his weekly conference today: “A team of police investigators, officers of the Forensic department, and the Fire and Rescue Service in Honiara, who were deployed to Tigoa to assist my officers there with the investigation of the arson incident have returned to Honiara.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Temotu Province last weekend arrested a male person in his 20s for allegedly producing homebrew at Malo Village on Santa Cruz Islands in the Temotu Province.

The arrest was conducted following a tip off from an informant that led the RSIPF officers at Lata to apprehend the youth for allegedly distilling the homebrew at one residence at Malo Village.”

The work of a long time police advisor with the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force, (RSIPF) has been acknowledged during the weekly Commissioner’s parade at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara today (8 August 2019).

RSSIPF Commissioner Matthew Varley presented a certificate of appreciation to Advisor Darren Folau of the Solomon Islands Police Development Program (SIPDP) whose mission ends this week.

A man in his 20’s has been remanded in custody today ( 8 August 2019) on a charge of murder after officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Auki, Malaita Province arrested him this week.

During his weekly media conference today, Commissioner of Police Matthew Varley says, “The man, who is being remanded in the Correctional Service Solomon Islands (CSSI) Centre at Auki, is alleged to have caused the death of his younger brother during a fight at Ambu Village near Auki on 2 August 2019.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Honiara is investigating the suspicious death of a 26-year-old male person who died after he sustained body injuries.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Crime and Intelligence Ian Vaevaso says, “It is alleged that at about 9am on Sunday 2 June 2019 the deceased was dropped off at his Burns Creek residence east of Honiara by a taxi. Three other male persons with the taxi driver were also inside the taxi. One of the male persons inside the taxi assisted the deceased out from the taxi.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) arrested a 22-year-old male person for the alleged rape of a 69-year-old woman at Nusa Baruku Village on Gizo Island in the Western Province on 4 June 2019.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu says, “It was about 4pm in the afternoon of 4 June 2019 that the suspect allegedly approached the victim to have sexual intercourse with her.”
