Two children sustain broken legs and arms in the latest traffic accident in Makira/Ulawa Province

Two children suffered broken legs and arms in the latest traffic accident at Rawake in Makira/Ulawa Province on 2 September 2024.

Report stated that the vehicle was traveling from Nukukaisi village in Central Bauro towards Kirakira town, at a high speed when it veered off the road and collided with a coconut tree.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira/Ulawa Province Superintendent Peter Sitai says, “The vehicle carrying nine passengers (seven adults and two children) hit the coconut tree and overturned.”

Guadalcanal Police and RAPPP visit Henderson Inland Community

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Guadalcanal Community Policing Unit at Henderson Police Station and the RSIPF-Australian Federal Police (AFP) Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP) visited Henderson Inland Community, last week, as part of their community engagements.

The Henderson inland community is a fast growing and mixed community found on the other side of the Henderson International Airport runway. The event, which was held to bring police closer to communities, was welcomed by community leaders.

Auki police respond to fire incident in Malaita Province

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Fire and Rescue team at Auki Police Station in Malaita Province responded to a dwelling house caught on fire on 3 September 2024.

The fire severely damaged the primary structure of the house but was contained by the quick action of the fire team that also prevented the fire from spreading to nearby buildings and shops.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Chief Superintendent Tex Tafoa says, “A male person who is a resident of the dwelling house was identified and was found death inside the burnt house.

Six hundred plus vehicles checked during traffic operation last week

A total of six hundred plus motor vehicles has been checked last week during a police operation front Kukum traffic and Central Police Station.

Director National Traffic Department (NTD) Superintendent William Foufaka said, “The traffic operation has been conducted by NTD with the support from the Central Response Unit (CRU).”

Director Foufaka said, “A total of 44 vehicles impounded and 44 people arrested while a total of 24 people positive with alcohol presence in their blood.”

A single mother give birth to a baby boy and after she drown him in a bucket of water

A single mother gives birth to a baby boy and after she drowned him in a bucket of water at Sirovanga village in North West Choiseul, Choiseul Province recently.

Taro police received the information and proceeded to Sirovanga to conduct an inquiry as the initial stage of police investigation.

It was alleged that the single mother locked her house and gave birth and drowned the baby in a bucket of water.

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) Commissioner Mr. Mostyn Mangau attended the 51st Pacific Islands Chief of Police (PICP) Conference in Tonga.

The PICP Conference officially opened with a theme, “Our Blue Pacific on the Global Stage” at Fa’onelua Conference Center in Nuku’alofa on 2 September 2024. The theme reflects the commitment of the Pacific police leaders to address key regional policing priorities.

Police conduct awareness talk at Guguha school in Isabel Province

The Community Policing Team at Buala conducted an awareness program at Guguha Community High School on 29 August 2024.

The National Community Policing coordinator for emerging issues Sergeant Tamaeri Cheong and New Zealand police advisors collaborated with Buala police to conducted an awareness program to more than four hundred plus students including teachers.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Isabel Province, Inspector Harry Vanosi says, “The main objective of the awareness was to engage students for positive learning and safety awareness.”

Police train community leaders in Makira/Ulawa Province on roles and responsibilities in the community

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Kirakira, Makira/Ulawa Province have trained Chiefs and elders on roles and responsibilities in the community at Kaokaona village in Central Bauro from 26 to 27 August 2024.

The training is part of the continued rollout of the RSIPF Crime Prevention Strategy (CPS) in the province to control and manage crime in the communities.

A dwelling house burnt down to ashes after an argument between wife and husband over homebrew in Western Province

A 26-year-old husband burnt down a dwelling house to ashes after he argued with his wife over homebrew beer at Uzamba village in Vella La Vella Island, Western Province recently.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Superintendent Wilken Miriki said, “The husband with his wife who reside downstairs of the same dwelling house have an argument over a container of locally made homebrew the suspect is looking for after he wakes up.”
