As part of plans to strengthen the leadership capability of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), senior executive officers attended a four-day Coaching and Mentoring Program organised by the Australian Institute of Police Management (AIPM) in Honiara from 25 – 28 February 2019.

The RSIPF Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners received their completion certificates from the AIPM during a brief ceremony at the Rove Police Headquarters on 1 March 2019.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force have arrested a 36 year-old male on 4 March 2019 in relation to the armed robbery at Ontong Java, Malaita Outer Islands (MOU) on 8 January 2019.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Crime and Intelligence, Ian Vaevaso says, “It is alleged that on 8 January 2019, the victim, an Asian businessman who was buying beche-de-mer on Ontong Java in the Malaita Outer Islands was confronted by the suspect who arrived with six other people on board a ray boat powered by a Yamaha 40 hp engine.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) this morning (5 March 2019) arrested a man who had a warrant of arrest for embezzling more than $100,000.00 since 2015 at Ranadi, East Honiara.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Crime and Intelligence Ian Vaevaso says, “In 2015 the suspect was charged for embezzling more than $100,000.00 by withdrawing money on several occasions from a victim’s account through forgery and deception using mobile banking without the consent of the account owner.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Guadalcanal Province attended to a report of the death of a 60-year-old man from Indonesia at the Papae Logging Camp in the Kolosulu area of North East Guadalcanal on 4 March 2019.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Chief Superintendent Evelyn Thugea says, “According to reports reaching the police the man was a chainsaw operator working for the Solomon Islands Global Company. It is alleged the deceased was cutting a tree when he collapsed and died instantly.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Guadalcanal Province and staff of the Solomon Islands Electoral Commission (SIEC) held a joint awareness talk on the National General Election at the Ruavatu Parish in North East Guadalcanal on 3 March 2019.

More than one hundred participants attended the awareness program including church leaders, elders, women leaders, youth and children in the Ruavatu Parish. The RSIPF and SIEC team distributed more than one hundred pamphlets during the awareness program.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have emphasised during an awareness talk to members of the Christian Outreach Centre (C.O.C) congregation in Honiara that the country wants a peaceful and crime free National General Election on 3 April 2019.

Speaking at the awareness program on 3 March 2019, Inspector Clive Talo says, “Policing is not about Police alone dealing with criminal activities in our communities. It is about the Police working together with you, as members of the community.”

The congregation at the Redeem Christian Church of God (RCCG) has been urged to adhere to what they heard during an awareness talk conducted on the National General Election(NGE) by the officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) today (3 March 2019) after a fellowship program at the Saint John School Community High School in Honiara.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Crime and Intelligence Ian Vaevaso says, “RSIPF is the lead law enforcement agency in providing a safe and secure environment to enable a free and fair NGE in 2019.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has congratulated 10 of its officers who graduated with certificates in Leadership and Management from the Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC) during a ceremony at the Heritage Hotel in Honiara on 27 February 2019
The 10 officers include five male and five female.

Twenty officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) are undergoing a United Nations (UN) pre-deployment training at the Police Academy in Rove Honiara from today (28 February 2019) to 22 March 2019.

There are four female and 16 male participants.

Speaking on behalf of the RSIPF Commissioner, Chief Superintendent Evelyn Thugea says, “The one month training is to prepare members being deployed on overseas missions for living and working in an environment very different from what they are used to at home.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Central Province have been able to improve their skills in the areas of crime scene basic examination and fingerprinting during a training held at Tulagi on 26 February 2019.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Inspector Hugo Maelasi says, “The training program is to equip my officers in the field of forensics in preparation for the National General Election (NGE) scheduled for 3 April 2019.”
