Police is aware of a report alleging a young female had been attacked by a crocodile at a river on North New Georgia Island in Western Province on 23 January 2019.

Commissioner of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force, Matthew Varley says, “Police became aware of the report on 28 January 2019 and officers in Western Province are trying to communicate with leaders on the island to make a formal request for police to go and hunt for crocodiles at the said river.”

Police in Honiara have arrested 39 vehicle drivers following a traffic operation targeting drink driving from 23-30 January 2019.

Ten drivers were arrested for careless driving, nine for driving an unlicensed motor vehicle, 14 for driving with the presence of alcohol in a person’s blood, one for driving without a driver’s license, one for driving without a valid driving license, three drivers for permitting unlicensed motor vehicle, and one permitting unlicensed driver.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team will conduct a live demolition of bombs at Hells Point, in the Alligator Creek East of Honiara on Thursday 31 January 2019.

Supervising Officer In-charge (OIC) of EOD, Senior Sergeant Peter Ririvere says, “The Hells Point Demolition Range in Central Guadalcanal area will be active from 8am to 12 midday, 31 January 2019.”

Police in Honiara have arrested ten vehicle drivers over the weekend following a traffic operation targeting drink driving.

Director of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Traffic Department at the Kukum Traffic Centre in east Honiara, Superintendent Fredrick Satu says, “On the night of 26 January 2019 my officers were involved in a random breath testing (RBT) operation along the Kukum High Way.”

Fifteen officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) including an officer from the Correctional Services Solomon Islands (CSSI) will now be able to operate Codan radios after the completion of a one-week training course on 25 January 2019.

The training which started on 21 January 2019 ended successfully with the handing over of equipment and completion certificates.

Police at the Henderson Police Station in Guadalcanal Province is investigating an alleged assault incident that occurred at the Lela Beach, Kakabona in North West Guadalcanal on 23 January 2019.

It is alleged the incident happened after the two suspects abducted the victim from the Henderson area and took him down to the Lela Beach where they allegedly assaulted him.

Commissioner of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), Matthew Varley and his Executive today (24 January 2019) met with visiting heads of Australia’s security organisations including the Australian Federal Police (AFP), the Australian Defence Force (ADF), and the Australian Border Force (ABF).

The AFP Commissioner Andrew Colvin, the Chief of the ADF, General Angus Campbell and the ABF Commissioner Michael Outram are in Honiara on a one-day visit. They arrived in Honiara this morning and will leave tomorrow Friday 25 January 2019.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has farewelled the late Chief Superintendent Vincent U’upwe in a moving church service at the St Alban’s Church, Bishops Dale, in West Honiara on 23 January 2019.

The service was attended by members his family, relatives, Police officers both on duty and off duties as well as his former work colleagues.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Inspector Hugo Maelasi calls on women and girls who are victims of sexual assault to report the incidences to their nearest police station.

The call comes after police in Tulagi arrested and charged an adult male person on allegation of an indecent act on 19 January 2018 at Niu Vunuha village, Big Ngella.

Inspector Maelasi says, “It is alleged that in the early hours of 19 January 2019, the victim was asleep at her home when the suspect went to her home and allegedly touched her private part.”
