The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team will conduct a live demolition of bombs at Hells Point, in the Alligator Creek East of Honiara on Thursday 17 January 2019.

Supervising Officer In-charge (OIC) of EOD, Senior Sergeant Peter Ririvere says, “The Hells Point Demolition Range in Central Guadalcanal area will be active from 8am to 12 midday, 17 January 2019.”

Police in Guadalcanal Province arrested a 50-year-old male on 7 January 2019 for the allegation of rape.

The arrest came about after police Aluta area in Malaita Province are urged to assist the PRT officers know the man was in Honiara since Christmas and New Year 2019 festivity.

It was alleged the suspect allegedly raped a 13-year-old female person on unknown date of the month of October in 2018 at Papangu Village in the Guadalcanal Plains Palm Oil Limited (GPPOL) one area.

Police arrested a 26-year-old male person yesterday, 9 January 2019, following an accident at Koridge road in Central Honiara.

The driver was tested with Breathalyzer Machine, and the presence of alcohol in his blood is 0:204%, which was above the prescribe level of 0:05%. He was charged with two counts being for Careless driving and Presence of alcohol in person’s blood he had been released on bail to appear at the Honiara Central Magistrate court on 5 February 2019 at 09:00Am.

Police in Central Province (CP) arrest three male juveniles recently for alleged rape of a 13-year-old female person at Ghole Village on Small Ngella Island, Central Province.

The three suspects’ ages ranges from 13 -14 years after police obtain their details.

Police this week arrest and charge another suspect for armed robbery of Capital Park that happen on 22 December 2018 in East Honiara.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara, Superintendent Barry Rush Saukiu says, “The 19-year-old suspect was arrested on Friday night, 4 January 2019 at Henderson area in East of Honiara, in a public transport.”

A 52-year-old murder suspect surrenders himself to Gizo police with the help of Buleana community leaders at Vela La Vela in Western Province on 7 January 2019.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu says, “Buleana murder suspect has given himself to the police and currently he is in police custody in Gizo this morning (07 January 2019).”

PPC Lenialu says, “This morning police has received a telephone call from Buleana community leaders requesting police to go down to the village and get the murder suspect.”

Malaita Province Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Inspector Peter Kinita is pleased with support of chiefs and various community leaders that make the work of police easier during the festive seasons.

Supervising PPC Kinita says, “So far the Christmas and New Year 2019 festivity have been very good in Malaita Province unlike the previous festivity in 2017-2018 a death at the Auki Travellers Motel.”
