The Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu thanked residents of Noro and Munda Townships as well as surrounding villages for the peaceful 35th Anniversary celebrations of the Province’s Second Appointed Day last week.

“I want to thank all the community leaders including church leaders in Noro and Munda women representatives, youth groups and members of the Western Provincial Government for working together with the Police in ensuring everyone enjoyed the celebrations,” says PPC Lenialu.

Officers of the National Community Policing Department in the Royal Solomon Islands Police (RSIPF) and other stakeholders including the Family Support Centre are continuing their awareness at markets and other venues in Honiara as part of the 16 Days of Activism to end violence against women and girls.

At an awareness held at the White River Market in West Honiara on 4 December 2018, a drama group from the Family Support Centre put on a skit showing one of the types of domestic abuse which is psychological abuse.

Police at Auki in Malaita Province have arrested four suspects in relation to the burning of logging machines owned by Green Tree Logging Company Limited in East Are’ Are, Malaita Province on 4 December 2018.

An excavator worth a $1 million dollar and two bulldozers with a value of $5 million dollars were burnt down.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Sexual Assault Team have charged a 42 -year-old man for indecent assault following an incident which happened in Honiara on 29 November 2018.

Officer-In-charge of the Sexual Assault Team at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara Sergeant Rose Nala explains: “It is alleged that on 29 November 2018 the suspect indecently assaulted the 15-year-old girl. The suspect is a person in a position of trust for the victim.”

The Traffic Department of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) calls for the cooperation of all road users during the official hand over of the Kukum Highway Project which will be held in Honiara on Wednesday 5 December 2018.

“The official handing over ceremony will be taking place at the location opposite of the Honiara City Council (HCC) National Library and the Ministry of Infrastructure Development building where the pickup trucks usually park,” says Supervising Director of Traffic, Inspector Brian Surimalefo.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force in the Western Province have called for calm during celebrations to mark the 35th anniversary of the Province’s 2nd Appointed Day which will be held 7 December 2018 at Noro, in the Western Province.

It is anticipated that important guests representing the National and Provincial Governments will attend the celebrations. Police will mount a parade and the RSIPF Brass Band will be performing during the celebrations.
