The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team demolished more than 600 unexploded bombs (UXOs) in the Western Province during Operation Render Safe from 15 to 19 November 2018.

The Operation was conducted in Munda, Rendova, Ringi and Teme on Kolombangara Island.

A husband in his 30’s has allegedly committed suicide after an argument with his wife in the Tenaru area of Central Guadalcanal on 18 November 2018.
The alleged suicide occurred after a family argument between the deceased and his wife about domestic chores.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Chief Superintendent Evelyn Thugea says, “The deceased and his wife started arguing over washing of their baby’s clothes on 17 November 2018.”

Police have so far arrested four people as investigations continue into the burning down of eleven dwelling houses at Taravo Village, in the Titige area of West Honiara, Guadalcanal Province yesterday(18 November 2018).

It is alleged the houses were burnt down after an argument occurred on 17 November 2018 during which abusive words were used against villagers of Taravo after which one of the villagers attacked the man who allegedly used abusive words and wounded him.

A middle aged male from Indonesia has died during a fatal road accident on a logging road at Lughighi in the western end of Rennell Island in the Rennell and Bellona Province on 15 November 2018.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Provincial Joseph Manelugu says, “The deceased is an employee of the Samlinson Logging Company currently operating on Rennell Island.”

Thirty-six participants, including five female, from the Tasimboko area in North East Guadalcanal have benefited from a Crime Prevention Workshop organised by the Royal Solomon Island Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Christian Outreach Centre on 15 November 2018.

Provincial Police Commander(PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Chief Superintendent Evelyn Thugea says, “This is the second training conducted in Guadalcanal Province after police established Community Crime Prevention Committees (CPC) in the province last year.”

The boat with six people onboard which went missing while travelling between Lituni Village in South Choiseul to Vella La Vella in Western Province on 13 November 2018 has been found.

All six passengers, four male and two female are safe and well.

The 18 feet ray boat driven by a 40 horsepower Suzuki engine, left Lituni Village in South Choiseul on the morning of 13 November with another boat heading to Vella La Vella. The other boat landed safely at Varapata Village on Vella La Vella at about 11 am on the same day but the other one failed to make it.”

The male headmaster of a primary school in South Small Gela in Central Province has been arrested and charged for the alleged indecent assault and rape of his 15-year old step daughter.

The young girl is a Grade Six student at the same school where the suspect is the headmaster.

“The suspect allegedly indecently assaulted and raped the girl on an unknown date between 1 July 2018 and 22 October 2018 at Siarana Village on South Small Gela,” explains Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Hugo Maelasi

The Premier of Malaita Province, Hon. Peter Chanel Ramohia has assured the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) that his provincial government will work closely with the Force on the roll out of the Kwaso Action Plan in the Province.

Premier Ramohia gave the assurance during a brief meeting with the RSIPF’s Assistant Commissioner (AC) Provincial, Joseph Manelugu in Auki on 14 November 2018. During the meeting AC Manelugu briefed the Premier on the Kwaso Action Plan and the RSIPF preparations for the National General Election next year.

Police in the Choiseul and Western provinces are searching for an 18 feet ray boat with six people onboard missing while travelling between Lituni Village in South Choiseul to Vella La Vella in Western Province on 13 November 2018.

The boat, painted while outside and grey inside, is powered by a 40 horsepower Suzuki engine.
