Regional Cybercrime course underway in Honiara

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Commissioner Matthew Varley today officially opened a Pacific regional two-day course on introduction to cybercrime investigation for police officers at the Rove Police Headquarters, Honiara. This course will be held from 26-27 November 2018.

The 18 participants at the course are from the Federated State of Micronesia, Guam, Kiribati, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Republic of Marshall Islands and Solomon Islands. Ten of the participants are officers of the RSIPF.

RSIPF participates in 16 Days of Activism to Stop Violence Against Women and Girls

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) will conduct awareness programs in communities in and around Honiara and in the provinces to bring to the forefront the increasing violence against women and girls as part of the international 16 Days of Activism from 25 November to 10 December 2018.

The theme for this year is: “Herem Vois Blong Mi – Stop Violence Against Women and Girls”.

Police investigate fatal traffic accident in Honiara

Police officers at the Kukum Traffic Centre in Honiara are investigating a fatal accident along the Hibiscus Avenue behind Anthony Saru building last night 23 November 2018.

Supervising Traffic Director Inspector Brian Surimalefo says, “A white two-tonne truck was allegedly involved in the hit and run accident. The incident happened between 12 midnight and 1am early this morning. The registration number of the vehicle is still unknown due to the fact that the driver switched off the vehicle lights and escaped from the scene.”

Police in Central Province praised for excellent performance during 2018

Police in the Central Province have been praised for their excellent performance during 2018 despite the challenges they faced.

Visiting Assistant Commissioner of Police(AC) Provincial Joseph Manelugu praised the officers during a parade officers at the Tulagi Police Station mounted in his honour and a team from the National Community Policing Department today (20 November 2018) at Tulagi.

Police arrest three youth in connection with alleged rape in GP

Police in Guadalcanal Province have arrested and charged three young boys in connection with the alleged rape of a 19-year-old girl at Okea in Central Guadalcanal on 30 September 2018.

The victim was walking back to her place at Malango, Central Guadalcanal when the alleged rape incident took place.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Chief Superintendent Evelyn Thugea says, “The three suspects from Saba Village, in the Ngalimbiu area of North Guadalcanal were arrested between 15 and 17 November 2018 following investigations into the incident.”

Police investigate fatal road accident in Makira Ulawa Province

Police at Kirakira in the Makira Ulawa Province is investigating a fatal road accident which resulted in the death of a four-year-old female child after she allegedly fell from a moving bus travelling from Kirakira to Kaonasugu Village in Central Makira on 18 November 2018.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira Ulawa Province, Peter Sitai explains: “It is alleged that in the afternoon of 18 November 2018 the child was travelling with her parents in a westerly direction from Kirakira town to Kaonasugu Village in an 18- seater bus.

Operation Render Safe demolishes 600 UXOs in Western Province

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team demolished more than 600 unexploded bombs (UXOs) in the Western Province during Operation Render Safe from 15 to 19 November 2018.

The Operation was conducted in Munda, Rendova, Ringi and Teme on Kolombangara Island.

A husband allegedly commits suicide after argument with wife in Central Guadalcanal

A husband in his 30’s has allegedly committed suicide after an argument with his wife in the Tenaru area of Central Guadalcanal on 18 November 2018.
The alleged suicide occurred after a family argument between the deceased and his wife about domestic chores.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Chief Superintendent Evelyn Thugea says, “The deceased and his wife started arguing over washing of their baby’s clothes on 17 November 2018.”
