A 15-year-old female has died as a result of a car collision at the Honiara City Council (HCC) roundabout opposite the Solomon Water office last night 15 September 2018.

Supervising Director, Kukum Traffic Staff Sergeant (SSgt) Michael Haomae says, “A 26-year-old female of Isabel Province was driving a motor vehicle along the Mendana Avenue in a westerly direction when the collision allegedly happen.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) today (13 September) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Solomon Islands Electoral Commission (SIEC), at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara.

Speaking during the signing, RSIPF Commissioner, Matthew Varley says, “This event is a milestone for our preparations towards the National General Election next year (2019).”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has given the all clear at 2.30pm this afternoon (13 September 2018) after successful diffusing an unexploded bomb in the center of Honiara near the Advanced Technology Building in the Point Cruz area.

The RSIPF Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team successfully carried out the operation to render the bomb safe by defusing the projectile before safely transporting it to Hells Point in the Alligator Creek area in East of Honiara.

Police at Tulagi in Central Province have arrested and charged two male persons with eight charges pertaining to the Traffic Act.

It will be alleged that on the evening of 1 September 2018 a male person employed by Sasape International Shipyard Limited (SISL) was driving a motor vehicle on the road without rear lights.

Operation Support Manager, Inspector Hugo Maelasi says, “The vehicle was running on the road without rear lights, hence police chased it and stopped the vehicle in front of the Tulagi Police station.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) wish to advise the general public, vehicle drivers and business owners and road users in Honiara that road blocks will be enforced from the main market underpass to South Pacific Oil Refilling Station road junction and also from the Provincial Press road to the Rock Haven upper road from 2pm until 3pm Thursday 13 September 2018.

This is to allow the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team of the RSIPF to conduct a Render Safe Procedure on an unexploded bomb discovered at Point Cruz behind the Advanced Technology Building.

Police in Guadalcanal Province led by its Provincial Response Unit (PRU) have confiscated 600 litres of kwaso (homebrew) in the New Zealand Camp area in Central Guadalcanal on 6 September 2018.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Superintendent Nixson Manetoga says, “My officers successfully raided the illegal kwaso distribution outlets and confiscated 600 litres of kwaso and numerous manufacturing items.”

Furona Primary School in Isabel Province has benefited from an awareness talk conducted by Deputy Commissioner Operations of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) during a tour to the Province recently.

Police officers in Guadalcanal Province have arrested a man for the alleged attempted murder of his wife on 9 September 2018 in the Tenaru area of Central Guadalcanal.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Superintendent Nixson Manetoga says, “On the morning of Sunday 9 September 2018 the couple was arguing over an incident whereby the victim saw the suspect talk to a young girl.”

Police officers at Taro, Choiseul Province have mounted a successful operation in the Provincial capital during the Lauru Cup tournament from 3 - 8 September 2018.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Choiseul Province, Superintendent Vincent Eria says, “This operation was done to ensure that the tournament went ahead in a peaceful environment so that our people move around freely.”
