The Fire and Rescue Service of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) conducted an awareness session on basic fire safety at the Pikinini Day Care School in East Kola Ridge in Honiara on 28 June 2018.

Director Fire and Rescue Service Superintendent Rodney Kuma says, “The program was presented by Sergeant Mathew Pio with the assistance from Police Constables Timothy Senge and Claudie Basil. They presented to 27 Kindy students and four teachers.”

Police officers at the Taro Police Station in Choiseul Province mounted a guard of honour for the new premier for Choiseul Province soon after his election on 28 June 2018.

“It was a great honour for me and my officers to mount a guard of honour to welcome the new Choiseul Province Premier,” says Provincial Police Commander Choiseul Province, Superintendent Vincent Eria.

He says, “I want to take this opportunity to congratulate the new premier of Choiseul Province Hon. Watson Qoloni and I thank the former Premier, Jackson Kiloe.”

Police at Buala in Isabel Province have praised the people of Isabel and visitors for their good and peaceful behaviour during the one-week Kodili Festival which ended in the provincial capital today(29 June 2018).

During the week police at Buala conducted an operation during the Festival to ensure the safety of people, guests and visitors was maintained.

Police in Honiara is investigating a fatal traffic accident at the Ranadi Roundabout in East Honiara in the evening of 27 June 2018.

“It is alleged that the driver of the vehicle was travelling with his wife and another male person in a two and a half ton truck. It is alleged they were travelling at high speed and when approaching the Roundabout at Ranadi, the vehicle veered off the road and ran into the Telekom fence,” says Director Traffic, Inspector Brian Surimalefo.

More than 200 officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) from Honiara City and Guadalcanal Province will be mounting an operation for the upcoming events that will be held in the capital city from today 28 June 2018 until 10 July 2018.

These events are the Melanesian Spear Head Group (MSG) meeting, the Melanesian Arts and Cultural Festival (MACFest) and the celebration of Solomon Islands 40th Anniversary of Independence.

Police in Honiara are investigating the death of a male adult in the Mbokonavera area in Central Honiara on 25 June 2018.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City Chief Superintendent Alfred Uiga says, “We received the report in the afternoon of Monday 25 June and my officers attended to the scene sending investigators and forensic officers.

PPC Uiga says, “The deceased was discovered lying in a small room build underneath a leaf house.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have concluded four weeks of Public Order Management (POM) intensive training at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara in preparation for the National General Elections in 2019.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Corporate Support Simpson Pogeava says, “The Public Order Management (POM) and Operational Safety Training (OST) training was aimed at qualifying the officers to become trainers to qualify other officers across the whole RSIPF.”

The Fire and Rescue Services of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is investigating the burning of a house at the Kukum Campus of the Solomon Islands National University (SINU) in East Honiara on 23 June 2018.

Director of the Fire and Rescue Services, Superintendent Rodney Kuma says, “The fire incident was reported to us at about 2pm on Saturday 23 June and we responded accordingly.”

Police at Kirakira in the Makira Ulawa-Province are investigating an incident of grievous harm which allegedly occurred at the Kirakira Correctional Centre on 2 June 2018.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Superintendent Peter Sitai says, “The alleged incident happened when the suspect got angry after losing a card game conducted in the compound.”

PPC Sitai says, “Police have arrested the inmate alleged suspect and was charged to appear before the Magistrate Court on 3 July 2018.”

The Magistrates Court at Kirakira in the Makira-Ulawa Province has sentenced seven male youth on 21 June 2018 after being found guilty on charges relating to an incident at the Pirupiru Community High School on Ulawa Island.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Makira-Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai says, “The Court heard that on 28 May 2018 the seven youth entered the Pirupiru Community High school on Ulawa Island with bush knives and threatened the students and staff as well as damaged school property.”
