The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and the Vanuatu Police Force (VPF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to govern future cooperation between the two police forces.
RSIPF Commissioner Matthew Varley and VPF Commissioner Albert Nalpini signed the MOU during a ceremony at the VPF Police Headquarters in Port Vila on 22 August 2018 following a bilateral meeting between the two Commissioners.
Under the MOU, both police forces will focus on:
• information sharing in all areas of law enforcement;

Commissioner of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Matthew Varley is in Vanuatu this week as a guest speaker at the Vanuatu Police Force (VPF) Senior Leadership Seminar.

During Commissioner Varley’s visit to Port Vila, he is also conducting a number of consultations with VPF Commissioner Albert Nalpini on how to expand police cooperation on joint operations and training between the two forces. The pair will also sign a new Memorandum of Understanding on Police Cooperation to cement the partnership between RSIPF and VPF.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have farewelled their late colleague officer Police Constable Zephaniah Rangi in a moving sending out service at the All Saints Parish church in Honiara on 21 August 2018.

Police officers, family members and relatives gathered at the Parish to bid their last farewell to a fallen colleague.

The Professional Standards and Internal Investigations (PSII) team of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have commenced the rollout of an awareness training from 13 – 14 August 2018 with officers attending a retention program at Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara.

The PSII program aims to raise the level of knowledge within the RSIPF on matters relating to police discipline, integrity and anti-corruption.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) International Law Enforcement Cooperation (ILEC) medal was presented to 32 members of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) during a ceremony held in Port Moresby Monday 13 August 2018.

The RSIPF ILEC medal is awarded to a member of an international police force who has provided direct support to the RSIPF to assist its development and security in Solomon Islands.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is mourning the passing away of one of its officers, the late Police Constable Zephaniah Rangi on 19 August 2018 after a short illness.

“Late Police Constable Rangi was recruited back in February 2006 and was posted to Central Police Station where he served for two years during his probationary period. It was during that time that he received a certificate of appreciation in recognition of the officer’s hard work and dedication,” says Supervising Police Commissioner Madam Juanita Matanga.

Police in Malaita Province is investigating the death of a 58-year-old man while on a fishing trip at Goulu Village in North Malaita on 17 August 2018.

Officers of the Emergency Response Group (ERG) in the Correctional Services of Solomon Islands (CSSI) are urged to maintain their skills learnt during a one-week intensive Public Order Management (POM) training from 13 - 17 August 2018 at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara.

Trainers from the Police Response Team (PRT) within the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) delivered the training to the CSSI officers.
A second group consisting of 22 ERG officers of the CSSI demonstrated their skills at Hells Point, East of Honiara on17 August 2018.

Police in Central Province completed another one day Crime Prevention Strategy training held at the Tulagi Police Station on 18 August 2018 for officers who were not able to attend the same training last month.

The four people wounded during a fatal stabbing incident on Bellona Island in the Rennell and Bellona Province yesterday (17 August 2018) have been airlifted by Australian Defence Force helicopters this morning (18 August 2018) to the National Referral Hospital (NRH) in Honiara.

A young girl died during the incident in West Bellona. The suspect is believed to be a mentally ill man and he is under police custody for further dealings.
