Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Close Personal Protection Department (CPPD) with the China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) conducted a first batch of specialist training in Honiara last week.

12 CPPD officers have successfully completed a one-week training course and received certificates of completion.

The goal of this training is to promote loyalty, professionalism and operational capability of CPPD officers.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) National Crime Prevention Department (NCPD) took part with other stakeholders and Government institutions during an orientation program for Honiara City Council (HCC) Councillors recently in Honiara.

NCPD Director Superintendent John Matamaru says, “The main objective of our presentation is to strengthen our collaboration with the councillors and how we can support our community leaders to ensure that our population enjoys peace and harmony in the Capital.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers at Kirakira police station are investigating a suspicious death of a 30 year-old male person in Makira Ulawa Province on 8 June 2024.

It was alleged that the body of the deceased was found at the road side of Mamara village in Central Bauro, Makira Ulawa province.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira Ulawa Province Superintendent Peter Sitai explain, “When the deceased was found he has bruises on his body with two major wounds on his forehead and at the back of his head.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) National Crime Prevention Department (NCPD) along with its partners, recently visited leaders, elders and chiefs in the communities of Kukum and Choviri.

NCPD Director Superintendent John Matamaru says, “This initiative is purposely to introduce our partners to the community, building relationship, and understanding and identify the needs of the community to ascertain suitable solution to mitigate the growing concerns in the community.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Police Response Department (PRD) who are deployed to the Western border rebutted claims “PRT FED EXPIRED FOOD?” published on the front page of today’s Solomon Star newspaper (26/06/24).

Supervising Director of PRD Superintendent Lionel Kapisa says, “As stated in the article that member of the PRD has fallen ill due to ration packs supplied by the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and stated these packs being stored in shipping containers at Rove Police Headquarters (PHQ) is inaccurate.”

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) and the China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) visited Koa hill community as part of the community engagement program recently.

The aim of this activity is to build trust and confidence between the police and the community. During the program CPLT displays their unique Chinese culture to the kids in the community.

Community leaders, women, youth and children came together and interact with police officers as it shows good cooperation from the community in Koa hill.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Lata police station received essential training based on Crime Prevention Strategy, refreshed Mindset and Family Violence training, delivered by the Solomon Island Police Support Programme (SIPSP) and RSIPF trainers recently in Temotu province.

This training allowed officers to understand the relationship between the RSIPF strategic direction, the RSIPF Crime Prevention Strategy and the work each RSIPF officers completes each day in their communities.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team have done a tremendous job by safely removing and destroying a 1000-pound aerial bomb at Taro in Choiseul Province last week.

This operation, which lasted three days, was important in ensuring the safety of the people, as the bomb posed a serious threat due to being located close to the community.

Police officers at Auki Police Station have recently arrested and charged a 23-year-old male for attempted murder in West Kwara’ae, Malaita Province.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Chief Superintendent Tex Tafoa says, “The victim is a 32-year-old male employee of the Exodus road construction company. The incident occurred while the victim and his colleague were talking with someone who had previously argued with the colleague.”
