The Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC),Rennell and Bellona Province, Sergeant Chris Tongaka welcomes the Media Awareness Training conducted at the Tigoa Police 28 May – 1 June 2018 as it will enable his officers to make more use of the power of the media to spread information about the work of the police.
Five participants including the Supervising PPC and other officers at the Tigoa Police Station in West Rennell attended the training.
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force(RSIPF) and the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) today (4 June 2018) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to govern future cooperation between the two police forces.
RSIPF Commissioner Matthew Varley and the RPNGC Commissioner, Gari Baki signed the MoU during a ceremony at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara following a bilateral discussion between the two Commissioners.
Police confirm missing boat with four people missing since 29 May 2018 at sea between Mary Island and Russell Islands has been found, at Gatokae Island in Western Province.
Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Yandina Police Station received the report on 30 May 2018 and same day conducted the search.
It is reported, prior to the alleged incident the missing boat was travelling with another boat after a fishing trip at sea around Mary Island, further of West Russell Islands, in the Central Province.
Police at Kirakira in Makira-Ulawa Province are investigating a death of a 30-year-old man on 31 May 2018.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Superintendent Peter Sitai says “Currently my officers are investigating the death incident which occurred on 31 May 2018.”
PPC Sitai says, “The suspect allegedly punched the deceased on his head during a drinking brawl at Huro village, a kilometre away in west of Kirakira township.”
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team will conduct a live demolition of bombs at Hells Point, in the Alligator Creek East of Honiara on Tuesday 5 June 2018.
Supervising Officer In-charge (OIC) of EOD, Staff Sergeant Peter Ririvere says, “The Hells Point Demolition Range in Central Guadalcanal area will be active from 8am to 2pm on 5 June 2018.”

There should be more understanding of the project management process among officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and the Solomon Islands Police Development Programme (SIPDP) following the completion of a Project Management Training held at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara from 15 – 18 May 2018.
Thirty two officers of the RSIPF and SIPDP completed Project Management Training. There were two training groups with each of the groups doing the training for two days.
Police at Ringi in the Western Province are investigating a fatal accident at Kolombangara Island on 25 May 2018, which resulted to the death of a man in his 30’s.
The deceased was believed to be working for Kolombangara Forestry Plantation Limited (KFPL) as a laborer.
