Guadalcanal Police arrested three male suspects during the Christmas Festivity Operation for demanding and Malicious damage nearby Mark Warth area.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Superintendent Nixson Manetoga says, “Suspects are formally arrested and charged for demanding with menaces and Malious damage to properties. The three suspects appear in Central Magistrate Court today and released on strict bail condition by the court.

Police in Western Province are preparing for the New Year (2018) festivity operation after days of busy with Christmas festivity operation.

A 38-year-old man was arrested by Police in Gizo, Western Province at KHY Shop area in Gizo Township on 26 December 2017.

The man has been on the run for alleged allegations of Restriction on making liquor, going arm in public place, intimidation and common assault.

It was alleged that the man was brewing liquor locally known in the Solomon Islands as home brew, threatened people and attacked a man on the 25 December 2017 at Supato Village Vella vella, in the Western Province.

Police in Tulagi, Central Province responded to a report of 7 year-old male attacked by a crocodile at Poipodilo settlement via Voloa main village Central West big Ngella today (28 December 2017) and assisted the boy for medical attention.

It was alleged the boy was swimming in a river at Poipodila settlement and then the crocodile attacked him by pulling the boy into the river and was lucky relatives of the boy show the attack and responded by distracting the reptile with stone attacks and cause the dangerous reptile to leave the boy.

Police condemned the alleged rape incident of a 2-year-old victim at Kaibia in Central Honiara on the 16 December 2017.

It was alleged the victim was playing with her sister when a 17 year-old male approached and took her to the kitchen behind the main victim’s parent’s house and sexually assaulted the child.

The victim was reported crying and the mother intervened and reported the matter to police.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu thanked residents of Gizo Township including surrounding villages for the peaceful Christmas Celebration over the past days.

“I want to thank the church leaders in Gizo, Provincial members, community leaders, Women Representatives, youth groups for your working together with the Police in ensuring everybody enjoys the Christmas celebration,” says PPC Lenialu.

Kukum Traffic officers are investigating a fatal accident at East Kola Ridge Road in Honiara today (26 December), which resulted to the death of a 45-years-old male.

It is alleged the accident occur while the man was driving a three tone pick-up truck along East Kola Ridge which ditched off the road and hit a post. As a result the driver and another injured passenger were transported to the National Referral Hospital (NRH) by Police Patrol. On arrival at the NRH, the driver was pronounced death by a doctor.

Police in Kirakira in the Makira-Ulawa Province are investigating a fatal accident of a male person in his 40’s from Arohane village, ward 10 in Central Makira today (26 December).

The deceased is believed to be an employee of Chia Tai logging company operated in Central Makira, work as a chainsaw operator.

It is alleged the man was attempting to cut down a tree and a branch of the tree fell on the man and badly injured him, which resulted to his death.

The Police in Western Province are providing high visible presence during festive activities to ensure public and community safety are maintained. One of the activities is the Honiara Gilbertese annual Christmas and New Year Festive Season volley ball tournament, which has commenced today 26th December 2017, at Titiana Village, in Gizo.

Police are investigating a fatal road accident that occurred today, along the Zion Road East Honiara, which resulted in the death of a 30-years-old female passenger.

The public bus was travelling in the easterly direction from the Talise bus stop heading towards Zion. Along the way, the bus ran off the road, over turned and as a result a female was injured.

The victim was transported to the National Referral Hospital and upon arrival at the Hospital, Medical Authorities pronounced her death.
