Forensic officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) today 14 December 2017 concluded a workshop on fingerprint detection using chemical treatments and optical light enhance techniques using the Poli Light.
The workshop, held at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara, was facilitated by an Australian Forensic Scientist, Mr Milutin Stoilovic, who invented the ‘POLI LIGHT’ used worldwide at crime scenes and laboratories.
The newly appointed Provincial Police Commander for Rennell-Bellona Province, Inspector Aloysio Manegaua has commenced policing activities in the province after taking up his appointment just a couple of weeks ago.
“Policing work in that province had been affected in the past several months due to certain issues but with the appointment of the new PPC, he has started working on activities to rebuild the confidence of the communities in that province in the RSIPF,” says Assistant Commissioner of Police, Provincial, Joseph Manelugu.
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested a male suspect in his 40s in relation to a murder incident at Humou Village near the Makira-Ulawa Provincial Headquarter at Kirakira in May of 2016.
The body of the 25-year-old diseased male was found dead hanging at Humou Village near Kirakira in the early hours of 24 May 2016.
The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) National Community Policing Team and the Media Unit participated in the ‘Carols in the Islands’ festival held at Lawson Tama Stadium in Honiara on 9 December 2017.

Commanders and leaders of the three Honiara City Command Zones of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force attended a three-day workshop from 5 – 7 December that will help them implement the Crime Prevention Strategy.
The theme of the workshop was, “Your command, your community, your problem – your solution together”
The workshop was designed to the best practice model of operationalizing the Crime Prevention Strategy and is the pilot model that will roll out to the provinces in 2018 and beyond.
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) including the executive, ranks and files and the current group of new recruits in Honiara today, 7 December 2017 attended an interfaith and thanks giving service at the Archdiocese of Honiara Holy Cross Cathedral.
This is the last RSIPF interfaith church service to be held this year giving the opportunity for the officers to reflect on this year’s achievements and challenges.
“I came into the force because I wanted a job that can challenge me, and I wanted to do a job worthwhile in helping others to make a difference and provide a better life for my fellow citizens,” says Sergeant Ronald Chite of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force.
Thirty-three-year old Sergeant Chite is from Western and Choiseul provinces and has served in the RSIPF for 10 years.

Three fishermen from Lilisiana Village near Auki in the Malaita Province have been found safe after drifting at sea since Saturday 2 December when their outboard motor engine broke down while fishing at Ramos Island between Ngella and North Malaita.
“The three fishermen drifted after their engine broke down and were not found until the afternoon of Monday 4 December, when another boat from Lilisiana Village which participated in the search located them at the Anuha Island on north Big Ngella,” says Supervising Provincial Police Commander, Central Islands Province, Hugo Maelasi.
