Nine people missing at sea in Temotu province safely shore at Malou in South Malaita on 18 May 2024.

The missing people travelled from Utupua to Vanikoro Island on 8 May 2024 but did not arrive at their destination.

From the nine passengers on board the banana boat with six adult male persons, two adult women and a six year old boy.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Operations, Ms. Juanita Matanga said the boat was loaded with local foods and other materials during their journey to Vanikoro Island.

Police officers in Auki police station have arrested a suspect from his home village with the assistance of village elders and chiefs on 14 May 2024 in Malaita Province.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City Chief Superintendent Jimson Robo says, “The alleged murder incident took place early hours on 12 May 2024 at the scorpion pub at Kukum highway.

“The deceased and his wife left the pub and were making a phone call when a male person grabbed the deceased wife’s phone and ran off.”

A police officer died after he was stabbed on his left eye last night (17 May 2024) at Kukum seaside pub in Honiara.

The deceased had a few beers with a colleague and his wife when a person came to their table and assaulted his colleague’s wife.

The deceased was attacked by the alleged suspects while his colleague took his wife to safety outside of the pub.

Commissioner of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) Mr. Mostyn Mangau said, “The deceased was rushed to National Referral Hospital (NRH) shortly after the incident where he was later pronounced dead.”

Solomon’s International Assistance Force (SIAF) engaged with the University of South Pacific Honiara students at a large sporting event at Multi-Purpose hall and outdoor Dome in Honiara on 16 May 2024.

The engagement program with the RSIPF is part of the ongoing involvement of the Solomon Island International Force (SIAF) comprising Australian, Fiji Police and Defense forces.

Today’s engagement sends a clear message of support to Solomon Island youths in their sporting and education pursuit.

Thirteen officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) has promoted to senior positions within the RSIPF during Commissioners parade on 16 May 2024.

The promotion happened after the Police and Prison Service Commission has endorsed the promotion of 13 officers to the ranks of Inspector, Superintendent, Chief Superintendent and Assistant Commissioner.

Among the 13 newly promotions were two female officers who promoted to the rank of inspector positions.

A 30-years-old male person died at National Referral Hospital (NRH) after his left leg was cut off at Koivo village in East Guadalcanal recently.

It was alleged that three suspects attacked the deceased with his elder brother with a bush knife after a church program.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province Chief Superintendent Rodney Kuma said the deceased and his brother sustained multiple wounds during the attack.

The Media Unit of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have successfully completed a one day basic skills training on video production.

The training focuses on filming and creating video content for RSIPF Facebook page. The training happened on 10 May 2024 at the Rove Police Headquarters.

The training was facilitated by the Australia Defence Force (ADF) in support of the Australia Federal Police (AFP) and Fiji Police Media Unit.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Maritime Department has farewelled their outgoing Director Chief Superintendent Russell Tagini and two maritime base officers at Maritime base in Honiara on 10 May 2024.

The farewell ceremony which took place at the Maritime base was marked with a parade where officers were honoured for their contributions and service to the Maritime Department.

The event was attended by the Assistant Commissioner (AC) National Operations Everlyn Thugea.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) wishes to confirm that an article circulated on social media on 9 May 2024 entitled a ‘public letter from the officers of the RSIPF’ is not from RSIPF and this article is grossly misleading.

The RSIPF believes the article was a disinformation tactic made for the interest of someone to tarnish the good work of China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) in Solomon Islands and the good reputation and leadership of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mr. Ian Vaevaso.

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) conducted a thanksgiving service at Wesley United church in Honiara on 8 May 2024 after a successful police operation for the joint elections and election of the Prime Minister last week.

During the thanksgiving service all security partners were attended and all ranks and files of RSIPF from Guadalcanal Police and Honiara base police officers.

The thanksgiving service was organised by National Emergency Management and Special Event Planning (NEMSEP) with the Wesley United church.
