Solomon Islands is now the 192nd member country of the international police organisation INTERPOL.

Solomon Islands became a member country on Tuesday 27th September at the 86th INTERPOL General Assembly, which was held in Beijing, China last week.

Solomon Islands enjoyed overwhelming support, with 98% of votes from INTERPOL member countries in favour of Solomon Islands' candidacy.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) reminds members of the public to report any sightings of unexploded bombs (UXOs) within their communities to the nearest police station and keep well away from the objects.

The RSIPF’s Explosive Ordnance Division (EOD) in Honiara was alerted of an UXO at Munda Airport area in Western Province and responded to the report on 25 September 2017.

Members of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) National Response Department have shot seven crocodiles during an operation in the West Are’ Are area of Malaita Province recently.

The operation was conducted at the Kiu and Waitara villages after a report was received of frequent sightings of the crocodiles posing a threat to the communities.

Police in Auki, Malaita Province have arrested a male suspect for the alleged attack on a security guard at the provincial capital on Saturday 30th September 2017.

It was alleged that the arrested suspect punched the security guard when police were trying to negotiate with the guard to put away a weapon in his possession.

Forty students from two schools in the Central Islands Province had the first experience in their life-time of seeing the inside of a police station when they visited the Tulagi Police Station during the ‘Open Police Station Day’ on Friday 29 September 2017.

The 40 students were from Voloa and Halavo Community High Schools.

Police have arrested an adult male suspect in relation to a stabbing incident in the early hours of today 30 September 2017 at Mbokonavera one area in Honiara which resulted in the death of an adult male.

The alleged suspect surrendered himself to Hon. Jimmy Lusibaea, Member of Parliament for North Malaita Constituency before police arrested him.

The suspect is now currently in police custody awaiting further investigations.

Police are in the process of obtaining permission for the medical examination of the deceased.

Police investigate stubbing incident happen in the early hours this morning at Mbokonavera one area in Central Honiara today.

Currently police investigators at the scene are collecting possible information’s that could lead to the death of a male person.

The decease currently at the National Referral Hospital morgue while investigations still continue in to the stubbing.

Provincial Police Commander, Honiara City Mr Alfred Uiga calls on to the surrounding communities and the general public to give more information’s to police.

Police at Gizo in the Western Province have commended members of the public in the township for their behavior during the Mini Tomoko Festival and the visit of the cruise boat the Pacific Eden today.

“I want to commend the public in Gizo for their behavior during the visit of the cruise boat which saw 2,000 tourists come ashore. The tourists spoke highly of their visit due to the friendliness of the people who they met during their short visit to Gizo,” says Provincial Police Commander, Western Province, Mathias Lenialu.

Several hundred secondary school students today (29 September) visited police stations in Honiara and other provincial stations throughout the country as part of the ‘Open Police Station Day’ initiative to market the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) to our youth population.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) today (29 September) marked the ‘Police Remembrance Day’ as known as the ‘Blue Ribbon Day’ with a ceremony at the Police Headquarters in Rove, Honiara.

The ceremony was attended by the Governor General, HE Sir Frank Ofagioro Kabui, the Acting Prime Minister, Hon. Manasseh Maelanga, the Patron of the RSIPF Blue Ribbon Foundation, Sir Paul Tovua and other dignitaries including members of the diplomatic corps. Relatives of the RSIPF officers who passed away during the past year also attended the ceremony.
