Police in Isabel Province is investigating the mysterious death of a 20-year-old male whose body was found in the bush near Salio Village, in North-East Isabel, on the night of 31 August 2017.

Acting Provincial Police Operational Manager, Isabel Province, Senior Sergeant Leonard Sopalehe says, “the death was suspicious after a registered medical nurse confirmed that the deceased body sustained injuries to his head and abdomen.”

RSIPF Officers at the Taro Police Station, Choiseul Province have successfully resolved an incident at Sagighae Village, between the villagers and a group of men, children and women who came across from Bougainville following the death of one of their relatives.

This followed a report from Sagighae Village, South Choiseul on Sunday 3 September 2017 that there were some disturbances after the group from Central Bougainville arrived to mourn the death of their relative who was married to a local woman.

The RSIPF appeals to leaders of the cultist group called ‘Platform’ on Makira to come forward to discuss with the police in that Province the alleged shooting of an Anglican Tasiu at the Rea Highlands in the Central Makira Province Constituency by members of the group on 20 August 2017.

The Provincial Police Commander, Makira-Ulawa Province, Peter Sitai confirms that he had deployed his officers to investigate the incident but have not made any arrests so far.

Five male adults have been arrested and are assisting Police in Guadalcanal Province with their investigations into the burning of four houses at Variana Village, near Lambi in West Guadalcanal on 3 September 2017.

It’s alleged that 40 people arrived at Variana Village on a three-ton truck on the afternoon of Sunday 3 September 2017 and burnt three dwelling houses and a kitchen.

The incident was reported to Guadalcanal Province at the Henderson Police Station and arrested five suspects, all male adults, who have been placed in Police custody as investigations continue.

Police in Malaita Province are investigating the death of a 40-year-old man from Takwea Village in North East Malaita yesterday.

Information received by Malu’u police substation say the man left his home at Takwea village on foot to visit his in-laws at Rameai Village. However on arrival he collapsed and passed away. He was pronounced death by medical staff at the Health Post at Molotabi Village.

It was further alleged the cause of death was due to heart failure.

Police in Malaita Province are compiling a report on the incident.

RSIPF officers from Honiara City and Guadalcanal Province are mounting an operation to maintain security during the FIFA World Cup Qualifier match between Solomon Islands and New Zealand which will be played at Lawson Tama tomorrow 5 September 2017.

The operation will start today and end on 6 September when the New Zealand Soccer team is expected to leave Honiara.

The RSIPF warns members of the public about the increasing incidences of house break-ins in Honiara and that they take all pre-cautions to ensure their residences and properties are secure at all times.

“From the reports coming in from our officers within the Honiara town, we note that there is an increase in the incidences of house break-ins over the past couple of weeks. This is a concern so we want to advice residences to ensure their homes are properly secured if they are intending to go out or at night when they are asleep,” says Supervising Commissioner, Juanita Matanga.

A 17-year-old male student who has been missing since Friday last week has been found alive and well and is now back with his family.

The young man, after he was last sighted at his school last week, decided to accompany his friends to Tangarare, West Guadalcanal without letting his parents know.

Police joined the search for the missing young man after his parents reported it yesterday.

The male student from Mamasa Village in Central Guadalcanal arrived back in Honiara today without realizing that the police and his family were searching for him.

RSIPF in the Western Province are investigating a robbery at the Harapa logging camp site in the Shortland Islands early in the morning of Monday 28 August during which three chainsaws, one excavator starter motor and personal belongings were stolen.

Information gathered by police in the Shortlands say the alleged eight unidentified suspects travelled in a ray boat. On their way from the logging camp they stopped at Kukuluai Island where they allegedly used a firearm to threaten the owner of a fuel depot to give them fuel.
