Empowering the chiefs role

Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the presence of, and thank all the Communities Chiefs here today.

Secondly I would like to thank the stakeholders including the National Community Policing unit of the RSIPF for organising the workshop.

I believe that holding such a workshop will help to rebuild our role as leaders in the community to combat and to prevent, reduce and solve crimes.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Auki have arrested and charged a 24 year-old male suspect following a murder incident at North Malaita province over the weekend. Police allege the incident occurred on Saturday evening until Sunday morning, where a man in his 40’s was stabbed and later died at a nearby clinic.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) through the Community Policing & National Family Violence Unit staged ORANGE DAY on Tuesday, 25th August 2015.The launch started at Honiara City Council compound and ended at Poha community. Further out within our provinces, ORANGE DAY campaign was also staged at Auki, Gizo, Kira Kira and Tingoa.ORANGE DAY falls on the 25th of each month. The day is sanctioned as an international day to campaign and eliminate violence against women by the United Nations.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force yesterday launched a major exercise to assess the capabilities of the Police Response Team (PRT) and the Police Maritime Division. The training commenced yesterday (Tuesday, 25 August 2015), will end on Saturday 29 August 2015. Members of the public are advised these planned training activities to ensure the community is not alarmed if they see an increased police presence. The exercise will include a number of activities, including Police Response exercises in Guadalcanal, Central Islands, Isabel and Malaita Provinces.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is pleased to announce that a new recruit course of more than 70 police officers commences on Monday 17th August 2015 at the Rove Police Academy.  The course will bring the total number of recruits joining the RSIPF this year to 110.The police recruit program is part of the ongoing development of the RSIPF and it will bring new confidence and growth to the force.

The police at Auki are calling on the public to take more safety precaution in this bad weather following two reports of missing people, which left an Asian and a local deceased on two separate incidents over the week. Police reported to have found two more of the local people missing since Monday and one has been deceased, one was alive and a third person is still missing. Police urged locals particularly those living around the coastal area of East AreAre to look for the missing people and report to police immediately. The Honiara Royal Solomon Islands Police Force investigators have arrested three male suspects and recovered two stolen cash containers following a robbery incident at the Wespac Bank at Point Cruz this morning.

Police alleged there four suspects involved in the attacked which left one of the commercial banks security officers seriously injured on his wrist, before taking off with the large amount of cash on an arranged car.
