The acting supervising Commissioner of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force Mr. Gabriel Manelusi and Participating Police Force Commander Mr. John Tanti made a day visit to Isabel Province on the 22nd September 2016.

The team do presentation on Crime Prevention Strategy to RSIPF members at Buala and advise them to continue to roll out this approach around Isabel Province.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Gabriel Manelusi presented on the new RSIPF Crime Prevention Strategy during a two-day workshop at Nagotano village in Central Islands Province (CIP) from 2 - 3 October 2016.

The workshop was organised by the Provincial Police Commander, Central Islands Province and other stake holders.

A total of 33 participants including men and women, chiefs, church leaders, youth leaders and Mothers Union leaders attended the workshop.
Deputy Premier, Central Islands Province, Hon. Selwyn Luga was also participate during the workshop.

With the theme of “Crime Prevention and Service Delivery”, the 2016 RSIPF Provincial Police Commanders and Directors conference is underway at the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI) base at GBR, east Honiara. It will be on from 10 – 14 October 2016.

Minister of Police, National Security and Correctional Services, Hon. Stanley Sofu opened the conference today (10 October 2016).

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI), Participating Police Force (PPF), have commemorated officers who have died in the line of duty at a service at the Guadalcanal Beach Resort (RAMSI base), East of Honiara on the 29th September 2016.

The ceremony began at nine o’clock with welcome remarks from Commander PPF John Tanti.

The RSIPF and PPF commenced the event with a march to the RAMSI Memorial Monument, followed by speeches and lying of the wreaths.

Auki police attend to a traffic accident at Bubuitolo village, West Kwara’ae, North Malaita on the 26th September 2016.

The accident involved a truck travelling on the North Road which hit a small boy age between 6 and 7 years old.

The Office of the Commissioner of police have received the pathology results from the National Referral Hospital Pathologist yesterday in relation to what many suspected were human remains found along the Mataniko River at Vara Creek in Central Honiara.

The report from the Pathologist confirms that the remains are from an animal not human remains as suggested in the media recently.

The report will form part of the police investigation mentioned in the media recently.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force National Community Policing team has conducted an awareness campaign at various locations in Honiara on the 23rd September 2016.

Police and other stakeholders jointly celebrated the Orange Day campaign, which falls on the 25th day of every month, at locations including Henderson market, Burns Creek School compound, the Burns Creek community; Kukum market, Con Street in Honiara City, White River 02 bus stop and Karaina.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) hosted two important events on Wednesday 14th September 2016.

They were the launch of the RSIPF Environmental Crime Manual and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Commissioner of Police and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology (MECDM).

Honiara:

A photograph of two young male persons holding weapons has been passed to RSIPF. This photograph caused serious concern to police regarding community safety. The information was referred to an active Task Force for investigation.

These weapons have been seized from the school by RSIPF and the school leadership and students advised to cease the practice of producing and maintaining such replica weapons. The school cooperated with police in this process and has assured RSIPF of continued cooperation.
