Deputy Commissioner (DC) National Security and Operation Support (NSOS) Mr. Ian Vaevaso of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have assured voters in Western Province (WP) that police will ensure the election process is carried out peacefully and successfully.

The assurance was made during his provincial visit to the WP last week as part of the community engagement program of the RSIPF in preparation for the joint election 2024.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) National Security and Operation Support (NSOS) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), Mr. Ian Vaevaso paid a courtesy visit to police officers stationed at Gizo, Ringi, Noro, and Munda Police stations and posts during his Western Province tour last week.

The aim of the visit is to encourage officers to continue performing their duties as expected by the communities surrounding them to continue to uphold law and order.

Twenty nine officers from the Royal Solomon Island Police (RSIPF) and eight officers from Correctional Service Solomon Islands (CSSI) have completed a week-long Public Order Management (POM) training program conducted by China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) in Temotu Province recently.

Two local fitness trainers contracted by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) to support the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers have earned their Certificate III in Fitness.

Hency Charles and Janet Gwai work under the RSIPF-AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP) Health and Wellbeing project. They provide fitness training, programs and health checks to RSIPF officers, ensuring officers maintain health and fitness for their policing duties.

As part of Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) Executive support to the provincial policing in preparations for the upcoming joint elections, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Operations Ms. Juanita Matanga paid a courtesy visit to several offices before commenced her community engagements program in Makira –Ulawa province.

DC Matanga met with the Provincial Government, the Hanuato’o Diocesan Bishop, the Kirakira Correctional Centre and the Principal Magistrate as part of encouraging collaborations and support between police in their respective establishments.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is urging good citizens of Solomon Islands to celebrate Easter in a meaningful way.

Police will be doing normal police presence in our communities and erecting checkpoints in some parts of Guadalcanal and Honiara City over the weekend.

Commissioner RSIPF Mr. Mostyn Mangau says, “This is to make sure people celebrate this Easter more meaningfully. If you are planning to catch up with friends and families this weekend, or travel to traditional holiday destinations, police are urging you to be vigilant during this Easter season.”

Regional law enforcement officers were among the twelve officers who graduated at Hells Point in Honiara on International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) level 1 today (28 March 2024).

Among the twelve graduated, four officers from Papua New Guinea Defence Force (PNGDF), a Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC), two Nauru police officers and five Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF).

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police (RSIPF) in Western Province have arrested a 36-year-old male person for attempted murder at Pusisama village in Vella la Vella Island, on 22 April 2024.

The arrest was made after the 36-year-old suspect allegedly struck a victim in his 20s with a 40 inch knife made out of chainsaw steel blade.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Mathias Lenialu says, “The victim sustained two huge wounds behind his neck and his arm. The victim’s condition is stable.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Taro police station have arrested a 23 year old male person for the allegation of rape of a 12-year-old girl in North West Choiseul.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Choiseul Province, Inspector Elliot Ngilli says, “The 12 year-old-girl went by herself at the beach on 23 March 2024 and did not return as expected so her family searched for her but no sign of her.”

Command Control and Coordination (CCC) training boosted officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Western Province (WP) as part of the preparation for the joint elections on 17 April 2024.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) WP, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu says, “As the National General Election is fast approaching. RSIPF Senior Executive recommend all officer commanding stations and senior officers of the RSIPF who will be taking the active leadership roles in the upcoming joint election to undergo this very important training.”
