The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) reminds members of the public to take extra precautionary measures during the bad weather currently experienced throughout the country.

Police Operation Centre (POC) Commander, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Patricia Leta says, “Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters. Avoid camping or parking along streams, rivers, and creeks during heavy rainfall. These areas can flood quickly.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) warned the public to consider sea safety as people from the province will travel to Honiara for the Sol2023 XVII Pacific Games ahead of the event.

Operation Commander, Police Operation Centre (POC) Assistant Commissioner (AC) Crime and intelligence Patricia Leta said as we are approaching the commencement of the major event (PG23), our nearby islands who are using Outboard Motors (OBM) as a means of transport to be more cautious when travelling to Honiara for the game.

Two suspects have been arrested in relation to the death of a popular Facebook personality the late David Aka Arekanuts recently.

The National Crime Investigation Department (NCID) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has confirmed the arrest and currently an investigation into the matter is ongoing.

NCID Director, Superintendent Leslie Simao said it was alleged that the two adult male persons assaulted the 43 years-old person after he threw rocks at market vendors at the National Referral Hospital (NRH) area.

Additional members of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) have landed in Honiara yesterday (8 November) ahead of the 17th Pacific Games event which will get underway in Honiara in just over a week time.

The AFP members were greeted by the Australian High Commissioner to Solomon Islands, Rod Hilton, the AFP Solomon Islands Commander, Heath Davies, and Commissioner of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), Mostyn Mangau, at the Henderson International Airport tarmac upon arrival.

As part of the Safe and Secure part of the Pacific Games 2023 (PG23), the officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have raided about three thousand litres of home brewed (kwaso) and destroyed them in a latest raid at Alligator Creek area this week.

Police Operation Commander (POC) Assistant Commissioner (AC) Corporate Support Mr Stanley Riolo said this raid is part of the clean-up campaign prior to the PG23 next week.

POC Commander Riolo said almost all communities in the Alligator area distilled kwaso in their own kitchen on a daily basis and sold them.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) were commissioned to begin its operation plan for the Pacific Games 2023.

The commissioning program happened at the St Barnabas Cathedral in Honiara today 4 November 2023.

During the Commissioning service, Dean of St Barnabas Cathedral, Reverend (Rev) Wilfred Kekea made a reference quote from the Gospel of Mathew 5:9 and he read, ‘Blessed Are the Peacemakers, for they will be called children of God’.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police force (RSIPF) Guardian Class Patrol Boats (GCPB) are now armed during a handing over ceremony recently.

The arming of the RSIPF GCPB enhances its capabilities not only for defence but most importantly for law enforcement and border protection including the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

The Australian Government through the Australian Defence Force (ADF) Cooperation Program supported the RSIPF with its capability development at key priority areas, in which the rearmament of the patrol boats is one of them.

We organised the Chinese Kung Fu to police children for a stronger police family culture, a statement highlighted by the Team Leader (TL) China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) Commissioner Zhao Jinyong during a half day Kung Fu basic training at Rove police headquarters on 28 October 2023.

Commissioner Zhao says, “I have been here for almost five months now and when I see these little children I feel homesick because I miss my little girl but I am proud of my work here in the Solomon Islands.

RSIPF Gender Coordinator, Staff Sergeant Alice Roteku, recently attended the Kukum National Traffic Centre to conduct a gender workshop with the female RSIPF National Traffic Department (NTD) officers.

The workshop was initiated by Director, NTD Supt William Foufaka and RAPPP Advisor Kevin Shaw and it is intended that similar workshops will be held across other areas of the RSIPF.

Honiara City Council (HCC) Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs) have taken their oath to execute their duties during a graduation ceremony held at Rove Police Headquarters on 27 October 2023.

Thirty officers graduated with certificates. With thirty, 26 were males and four were females.

The graduation occurred after three weeks of intensive training provided by Learning and Development of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF).
