The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) and New Zealand (NZ) Police strengthen policing partnership during Commissioner Mostyn Mangau visit to New Zealand late last year 2023.

The purpose of the visit is to further strengthen the Pacific Policing ties between the Solomon Islands and New Zealand Police to Support and the development of the RSIPF Crime Prevention, Community Policing and training across the Solomon Islands.

A 22 years-old male person from Malaita Province was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment after he was found guilty of wilful and unlawful damage to land surveyors equipment after his Court hearing recently at Auki Magistrates’ Court.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Superintendent Leslie Kili said the incident took place in Auki town on 18 October last year.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Western Province and China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) have successfully conducted the first police route march in Gizo, Western Province.

About thirty RSIPF officers, together with three CPLT officers marched in an orderly pace, shouted loudly and headed for Gizo Police Station. The route march started at 7 am from Meddean highway.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Tulagi have arrested three suspects recently for brewing kwaso (homebrew) at Kakalake village in Savo, Central Province.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Superintendent David Soakai said the three suspects in their 20s have been arrested after Police received information from Crime Prevention Committees and the communities around Kuila.

PPC Soakai said another suspect was also arrested during the same patrol trip to Savo Island for domestic violence at Sebulu village.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Western Province have arrested a total of 45 suspects during the Christmas and New Years’ operation.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu says, “Arrests were done from 23 December 2023 to 5 January 2024 at different police stations in Western province.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) are investigating a sudden death incident of a male person believed to be in his 30s.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Superintendent David Soakai said the incident happened on 6 January 2024 at Tulagi shipyard in the afternoon when the workers tried to pull up a badge at the shipyard.

PPC Soakai said it was alleged that the deceased dived under the badge with a rope from one side of the badge to the other side of the badge but did not reach the other side.

The National Traffic Department (NTD) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have recorded a total of eight traffic accidents in Honiara during the Christmas and New Year’s operation.

Supervising Director, NTD Staff Sergeant (SSgt) Measly Kelo said among the eight traffic cases there were four fatal accidents.

SSgt Kelo said those fatal accidents had happened in different locations in Honiara. First fatal accident at Agape, White River area, second at Mbokonavera II, third at Supreme Casino and fourth accident happened at Tandai highway opposite Bishop’s Dale.

The China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) have arrived in Gizo to prepare officers in Western Province for Public Order Management (POM) Training.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu says, “The three CPLT officers led by Jack Dong Pengpeng arrived on 2 January 2023.”

PPC Lenialu says, “The team were here to prepare our officers for the upcoming planned POM training scheduled to take place before the National General Election (NGE) 2024.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested a 34-year-old male person for illegal sale of kwaso (homebrew) and restriction on making liquor in Gizo, Western Province on 1 January 2024.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu says, “The arrest has occurred after police received information from the community about illegal sale of kwaso and restriction on making homebrew in Gizo.”

Police are investigating a fatal accident involving a 20-year-old female who got hit by a land cruiser at the eastern gate of the Supreme Casino driveway by a 26-year old male person in East Honiara on 1 January 2024.

Supervising Director National Traffic Department (NTD) Staff Sergeant (SSgt) Measly Kelo says, “Initial report stated that, “At around 3-5am on 1 January 2024, that the vehicle drive through the Supreme Casino second boom gate (eastern side) and then made a quick turn heading back westerly direction and at a very high speed.”
