The National Traffic Department (NTD) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in a joint law enforcement operation on 22 September have detained twelve vehicles.

Director NTD, Superintendent William Foufaka says, “This is part of the safe green games operation conducted by the police and other law enforcement in preparation towards the Pacific Games 2023 (PG23) that will be hosted in November.”

New Zealand (NZ) Police attached to the Solomon Islands Police Support Programme (SIPDP) continue to implement the 5 Step Mindset training programme for the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF).

NZ Police working alongside the National Crime Prevention Department (NCPD) officers and Learning and Development officers from the RSIPF have developed the training to assist the RSIPF to be the best that they can be every day.

The community policing unit of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Buala police station in Isabel Province will roll out an awareness talks program in Gao-Bugotu constituency.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Isabel Province, Sergeant (Sgt) John Lokumana says, “This is part of the community engagement plan where my police officers are mandated to bring trust and confidence to our people.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team will be conducting bomb/ UXO operations in the Choiseul Province at 9am to 4pm from 27th to 29th September 2023.

The tasks will be carried out specifically in the areas of Taro, Choiseul Bay Provincial Secondary School, Tarekukure, Vuala log pond and Solovae village.

A joint law enforcement operation to crack down illegal activities in Honiara was successfully completed on 22 September 2023 as part of the preparation for safe part of the Pacific Games 2023 (PG23).

The joint operation between the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) and Honiara City Council (HCC) Law Enforcement have visited crime hot spots areas Kukum, Bahai, Central market, Hapai and Yacht club area.

The National Crime Prevention Department (NCPD) in Honiara successfully conducted a two-day workshop for community leaders within Honiara at Saint Albans Parish Hall last week.

NCPD Director, Superintendent John Matamaru says, “A total of 53 community leaders in Honiara attended the workshop.”

Director Matamaru says, “This workshop brings an opportunity for both the community leaders and police to convey and know what issues faced, the possible cause and the best way to address it.”

A two-day Command Awareness workshop for the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) was successfully completed last week (15 September 2023).

Police experts from the United Kingdom (UK) College of Policing delivered the awareness to the RSIPF at the Rove police headquarters.

RSIPF Commissioner Mr Mostyn Mangau says, “Chief Superintendent Claire Armes from the United Kingdom College of Policing and Chief Superintendent Matt Lawler, representative from the UK National Police Coordination Centre were in the country to deliver the training to the RSIPF.”

Two double cabin land cruiser values at about 750k were handed over to RSIPF Maritime this week by the Australian Defence Cooperation Program.

RSIPF Commissioner Mostyn Mangau during his weekly media conference says, “These two land cruisers will be used mainly on day to day operation and administration of the police maritime division.”

“The two-land cruiser will be used for logistical/transportation of spare parts from source, shops, airport and seaport to the base or on board the vessels,” Commissioner Mangau adds.

A male person died while other three people are in critical condition after a fatal accident along the Kukum highway road, Bahai area in Honiara.

RSIPF Commissioner Mr Mostyn Mangau during his weekly media conference said the fatal accident happened on 17 September 2023 between 1am and 2am, which involved a grey Toyota Caldina registration number T0067.
