The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team will be conducting a Render Safe Procedure (RSP) to a live bomb found at the Foxwood area in North Guadalcanal tomorrow (12 April 2023).

Officer In-charge (OIC) of EOD, Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “The task will be carried out not far from the Foxwood highway road before the Tina road junction and will be active from 8am to 1pm.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Kirakira Police Station have responded to six reported incidents that occurred during the Easter period at KiraKira town in Makira-Ulawa Province.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Superintendent Peter Sitai says, “It is good to see that most people celebrated this Easter peacefully and reflected on what Easter really is. However, there are few minor incidents that occurred throughout the Easter season, most of which are alcohol related.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested a 17-year-old male suspect for arm robbery on 9 April 2023.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Police Station, Chief Superintendent Jimson Robo said it was alleged that the suspect arm with a kitchen knife grabbed the victim and pointed the knife on her neck.

PPC Robo said the suspect threatened the victim to surrender her phone to him otherwise he would stab her with the kitchen knife. She had no option and released the phone to the suspect and the suspect escaped.

Eight firefighters from the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Fire and Rescue Services are now qualified to deal with chemical-related hazardous material incidents.

This is possible after they completed a Hazardous Material Response course at the Central Fire Station last week.

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) has denied that there is no referral of files from Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Development (MID).

Deputy Commissioner (DC) National Security and Operation Support (NSOS) Mr Ian Vaevaso said there is no referrals as mention by PS MID.

DC Vaevaso said police only received complaints from individual’s constituents not as claimed that files were referred to by MID.

Police Commissioner, Mostyn Mangau says, “As a Christian country our people and communities have observe the Holy week leading up to the Easter week. I would like to encourage the general public to continue working together towards a crime free community.”

The Anti-Human Trafficking Advisory Committee (AHTAC) held its first quarterly meeting for this year 2023 in Honiara on 31 March 2023.

The meeting was chaired by Assistant Commissioner (AC) Crime and Intelligence Ms. Patricia Leta of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF).

In the first meeting, members had endorsed the AHTAC Communication Strategy. A communication tool for raising awareness for law enforcement, communities, frontline workers, public servants, and provincial governments to mitigate the risks of vulnerabilities on trafficking in person.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) and Immigration officers have refused a Finland Foreign National for entering Solomon Island (SI) –Papua New Guinea (PNG) border at Shortland Islands on 31 March 2023.

The Finland National entered through the PNG and Indonesia border and did inward clearance at Wutung, PNG Immigration border post on the 8 March 2023.

The person travelled to Port Moresby, boarded a domestic flight to Buka, and travelled to Buin, the Autonomous Region of Bougainville.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team will conduct a live demolition of bombs at Hells Point, in the Alligator Creek area East of Honiara on Wednesday 05 April 2023.

Officer In-charge (OIC) of EOD, Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “The Hells Point Demolition Range in Central Guadalcanal will be active from 8am to 1pm (05 April 2023).”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Central Police Station (CPS) are embarking on crime prevention approaches to business houses in Honiara.

Honiara City Operations Manager Inspector Tex Tafoa says, "Pacific Games is drawing near and so we have responded to requests from business houses on crime prevention awareness talks for their staffs.”
