The Commissioner of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) Mr. Mostyn Mangau advises the general public to be careful when receiving a Gmail account bearing his name for personal interest in police cases.

The Gmail account that has been sent to certain individuals and threaten them to request them for immediate response to the Court's decision on some case files.”

The Western Tomoko Under-14 (boys and girls) team were given a rare opportunity to learn about online safety, emerging cyber threats and responsible social media use during its recent Honiara tour.

The team has been in Honiara participating in the 2024 Solomon Power Iumi Play Under-14 Championship that ended on 20 September.

The team’s male side reached the semi-final but failed to get the bronze. Central Islands U14 won the game to claim bronze. The female Western Tomoko U14 was however named the Fair Play Team of the championship.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has farewelled two police advisors in Honiara last week.

The two advisors are Clinton Smith and Sam Elmaghraby who work several years under the Royal Solomon Island Police Force and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP).

The National Traffic Department (NTD) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested a male suspect from North Malaita in relation to the fatal accident at Panatina campus bus stop on 23 September 2024.

The arrest was made after the driver of the vehicle hit the deceased when she was crossing the road at the Panatina campus bus stop.

The two-ton vehicle travelled in an easterly direction at a high speed and hit the deceased when the deceased crossed the road. The vehicle hit and dragged the deceased to about 15 to 20 metres on the tarmac.

Thirty-eight female officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) successfully completed a week-long leadership development programme in Honiara. It is the first time such a programme has taken place at RSIPF.

This is supported by the UK Government through its Integrated Security Fund (ISF), which aims to provide capacity building and support for a range of policing and legal actors, including strengthening regional cooperation on tackling organised crime, alongside leadership training and mentoring.

The Royal Solomon Island is appealing to Landing Craft (LC) owners and operators to ensure their vessels are sea worthy.

The appeal came about after LC Coast Way sank between Leru island and Mary island in West Russell Islands, Central Province with 13 crew members.

The recent incident Tulagi police recused 28 passengers from a sunken LC between Guadalcanal and Florida islands on 8 September 2024.

Mr. Mostyn Mangau was sworn-in as the Commissioner of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) for the next 12 months.

The sworn-in took place before His Excellency the Governor General of Solomon Islands at the Government House.

The cabinet has approved his re-appointment as the Commissioner of RSIPF after he received his retirement notice on 29 May 2024.

The delay of the re-appointment due to appointment of the new Governor General (GG) State House was under full renovation to prepare the residence for the new GG to occupy.

Police in Buala are conducting an investigation into an alleged abortion case that took place at one of the villages in Isabel province recently.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Isabel province Inspector Harry Vanosi says, “It was alleged that the young woman who was seven months old pregnant aborted her baby.”

PPC Vanosi says, “It was further alleged that her boyfriend who is a medical officer provided her with the necessary drugs, equipment and materials for the abortion process.”

A 20-year-old male person raped a 16-year-old girl at Kwailabesi area in North Malaita, Malaita Province recently.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Inspector Michael Ramosaea says, “The 20-year-old male person is a crew for a public transport provider for the Northern Malaita road.”

Supervising PPC Ramosaea says, “The victim dropped off at around 7pm on the main road and walked along the bush track to her home village. The victim was on her way home when the horrific incident occurred.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Buala in Isabel Province have arrested a male suspect on 12 September 2024 for damaging an excavator.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Isabel Province, Inspector Harry Vanosi said, “The incident of damage to the excavator has occurred at Maglau village.”

PPC Vanosi said, “It was alleged that the suspect went and broke the brass pipes of the excavator and took them back to his house. A total of 17 thousand dollars plus damage incurred by the suspect on the machine.”
