Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested, charged and remanded a 22-year-old male person who punched an adult male person and died instantly at Tanasali village in North West Guadalcanal recently.

RSIPF Commissioner Mostyn Mangau says, “It was alleged that the suspect punched the victim with his closed fist and kicked the deceased as a result he died instantly.”

Commissioner says, “The victim and the suspect had an argument over a bottle of kwaso (homebrew). This is where the argument hit up and the suspect punched and kicked the deceased.”

Investigators of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Henderson Police Station are investigating a rock-throwing incident that occurred at Titinge on 18 February 2023.

RSIPF Commissioner Mostyn Mangau says, “It was alleged that at 8am on 18 February more than 10 male persons on a vehicle were at Titinge when they used abusive words towards Titinge residence who in return swore back at them.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is appealing to the good people of Solomon Islands to always think safety first when travelling during bad weather.

RSIPF Commissioner Mr. Mangau says, “As it has been issued by the meteorological service of a tropical disturbance overlays the Solomon Islands. It is important for drivers, road users, and sea travellers to always make good judgement and prioritize safety when travelling on our roads or crossing streams or rivers.”

37 Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Honiara completed two weeks training at the RSIPF Police Academy in Rove, which commenced last week.

The courses form part of the RSIPF Investigations and Leadership training which started late 2022 and continue on this year 2023.

Two separate courses are were conducted as part of a plan to provide capability development to the RSIPF in preparation for the Pacific Games scheduled to be held in Honiara in November 2023.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Community Policing Team at Kirakira Police Station conducted awareness talks on the Crime Prevention Strategy at Borodao community in West Makira, Makira-Ulawa Province on 18 February 2023.

Kwaso, domestic violence, marijuana, and alcohol abuse are the topics presented during the awareness talk.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team will conduct a live demolition of bombs at Hells Point, in the Alligator Creek area East, Honiara on Wednesday 1 March 2023.

Officer In-charge (OIC) of EOD, Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “The Hells Point Demolition Range in Central Guadalcanal will be active as from 8am to 1pm (1 March 2023).”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Community Policing Office at Lata Police Station conducted an awareness talk at Menelu primary school in Temotu province on 24 February 2023.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Temotu Province, Superintendent James Toaki says, “The awareness talk was based on the Importance of Education, and the consequences of bad behaviours.”

The Close Protection Personal (CPP) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) are enhancing its capability in preparation for the Pacific Games 2023 (PG23).

This is for the anticipated attendance of the internationally protected persons and a variety of guests of government and very important people attending the PG23.

In order to train significant numbers of new CPP officers and maintain the qualifications of existing CPP trained officers, the CPP capability is increasing its training team.

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have presented certificates of appreciation and police international cooperation medals to 9 China Police Liaison Team (CPLT)members who will be leaving the country this weekend.

The second batch of CPLT arrived in the Solomon Islands on 7th August 2022 and their mission has ended while the third batch of CPLT is already in the country to replace those outgoing Chinese Police Officers to continue with their six months mission.
