Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Tulagi Police Station in Central Province have attended a three days training conducted by the officers of the National Crime Prevention Department (NCPD) together with Police Academy and officers of the Solomon Islands Police Support Program (SIPSP) on change of mind set for police officers last week in Central Province.

There are a total of 22 Tulagi police officers participating and were issued with certificates at the end of the three days training.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Auki Police Station have arrested and charged a 20-year-old male suspect for a double murder incident that occurred at Manu area, East Fataleka in Malaita Province on 20 February 2023.

The killing of the two brothers was related to a land dispute issue in which the father of the two deceased had an argument with the suspect the day before the murder incident over logs taken out from a disputed land.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Tulagi in Central Province have conducted an awareness in relation to crocodile threat in Tulagi after a crocodile had attacked a male person who went out diving at night at the seafront of Raiders rest house in the morning on 22 February 2023.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Crime and Intelligence Patricia Leta says, “The person was going out on a diving trip when a five meter crocodile attacked him in the water between 12 to 1:30am.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the National Traffic Department in Honiara have attended to a single motor collision incident that took place early in the morning on 21 February 2023 at the Bahai road along the Kukum highway.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Crime and intelligence Patricia Leta says, “The vehicle involved in the accident was a silver-grey Toyota corolla. The vehicle was said to be travelling westerly direction in the inner lane at a very high speed before driving onto the outer lane and collided with a drum (rubbish bin).”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Gizo Police Station have arrested a 45-year-old male suspect for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl at a school close to Munda in Western Province on 16 February 2023.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Crime and Intelligence says, “According to the initial report the suspect was allegedly rape the victim in his house in October 2022.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Tulagi together with the Community Governance and Grievance Management Project (CGGMP) has witnessed the launching of 11 community By-Laws in Russell Islands recently.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Superintendent Soakai said this is another milestone achievement for the 11 communities in Russell Islands who launched and rolled their community by-laws over the three days roll out campaign by RSIPF Tulagi and CGGMP Central Province from 31 January to 2 February 2023.

Commissioner of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), Mr. Mostyn Mangau, has congratulated the RSIPF Women’s Football Club on their second place in this season’s Solomon Islands Women’s Premier League.

The Royals were chasing their 3rd consecutive first place finish but finished one point off top spot for the 2022/23 season.

Commissioner Mangau showed his support for the team by attending the final match of the season, and giving the pre-match and post-match team talks.

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) boosted its capabilities with a new forensic autopsy laboratory with the assistance from People’s Republic of China (PRC) on 16 February 2023 at National Referral Hospital (NRH).

The forensic autopsy laboratory program is worth two million Solomon dollars including the equipment worth 1.4 million SBD and the infrastructure worth six hundred thousand dollars.

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) has hosted 21 police officers from the Asia-Pacific region who completed a pre-deployment training course for United Nations (UN) peacekeeping missions.

The officers from Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Timor-Leste, Vanuatu, Vietnam and Canada completed two-weeks of training at the Australian Institute of Police Management in Sydney.

It was the first time the UN Training and Certification Course for the new Specialised Training Materials (STM) for UN Police had been held in Australia.
