Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Honiara have arrested and remanded a murder suspect in relation to the Domestic Violence incident that led to the death of a 47-year-old mother at Fulisango area in East Honiara.

Supervising Director National Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) Superintendent Michael Bole says, “The suspect (husband) and the deceased (wife) were drinking alcohol celebrating the festive season when an argument broke out between them.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and members of Solomon’s International Assistance Force (SIAF) have arrested 34 suspects during the operation “STOPEM GAMBLING” last week.

Suspects who have been arrested for gambling known as pass were arrested from Rove Market, White river and Lord Howe Settlement. Among the 34 suspects, 10 were females.

Police investigators at Auki Police Station in Malaita Province are investigating the suspicious death of a 26-year-old male person found lying along Sasafa riverbank in North Malaita on 7 January 2023.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province Superintendent Leslie Kili says, “An initial report states that the deceased was found by villagers residing near the river bank after he went missing from his home village on 1 January 2023.”

“Two suspects are currently under police custody for questioning as investigation continues,” PPC Kili adds.

Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and Australian Federal Police (AFP) Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP) rolled out a pilot outdoor gym program at Tetere Police Station during the opening program last month (December).

This program aims to assist the RSIPF with the provision of gym facilities to support the operational readiness and fitness of RSIPF members.

Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers in Western Province commend people in Western Province for good behaviour and support shown during the police operation throughout the festive season.

RSIPF Provincial Police Commander (PPC) of Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu says, “The recent Police Operation Festive Seasons in Western Province that commences on 23 December 2022, will conclude on 6 January 2023.”

Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers at Tulagi in Central Island Province have arrested and charged a 38-year-old mother on 29 December 2022 following the discovery of a dead body of an infant found washed ashore at Boromole village on 21 December 2022.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province Superintendent David Soakai says, “Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Tulagi Police Station have identified the suspect. The suspect in this sad incident is from Foia Village in Malaita Province.”

Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau commended the public for a peaceful celebration throughout the festive season despite one murder case in borderline East of Honiara.

It is during these season that our families along with other families in the City can celebrate the true meaning of Christmas and New Year.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Executives accompanied by Chinese Embassy Officials and China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) visited the 2023 Pacific Games Stadium Project built by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation(CCECC) and the Solomon Islands National University Dormitory Buildings Project built by JiangSu Provincial Construction Group Corporation(JPC) on 21 December 2022.

RSIPF executives led by Assistant Commissioner Simpson Pogeava visited the Construction sites.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) appeals to members of the public throughout the country to think safety first during the current bad weather.

The call is being made as the country continues to experience heavy rain and strong winds.

Commissioner of Police, Mostyn Mangau says, “Boats and vessel owners are urged to think safety first before embarking on any trip at sea during the current bad weather. Check the weather by listening to the SIBC and other radio stations or call the Met service and get the right advice before travelling at sea.”

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) would like to clarify an article published in Solomon Star stating Provincial Police Commander (PPC) in Malaita Province used police fast craft to escort Malaita Provincial Premiere on 23 December 2022.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Superintendent Leslie Kili says, “The fast craft run to Honiara was not to escort Premier to Honiara as stated in the Solomon Star but on Police related matters.”
