The National Crime Prevention Department (NCPD) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), together with the China Police Liaison Team (CPLT), conducted awareness talks at the near completion of the National Referral Hospital Comprehensive Medical Center recently.

The awareness activity is purposely to support the construction site in the prevention of theft and damage, as it is now approaching the final phase of the work.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Support Fund (SF) has received a donation of $SBD150,000.00 from the Chinese Embassy in Honiara.

The RSIPF’s SF was established with the hope of providing support to police officers and their families during challenging times.

RSIPF’s Deputy Commissioner (DC) National Security and Operations Support (NSOS), Mr. Ian Vaevaso, together with the RSIPF executive and China Police Liaison Team (CPLT), attended the handover ceremony at Rove Police Headquarters recently.

A total of 23 officers from the Police Response Departments (PRD) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have been promoted to ranks of Sergeant and Staff Sergeant on 11 December 2024.

Fifteen officers were promoted to the rank of Sergeant while eight officers were elevated to Senior Sergeant positions. Among the newly promoted officers was a female officer who was promoted to Senior Sergeant.

Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers in Auki have recently arrested a 37-year-old male for carrying about liquor for sale without license in Auki Malaita province.

Malaita Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Chief Superintendent Tex Tafoa says, “Frontline officers were approached and informed of the suspect’s doings by a concerned person who witnessed the exchange of money and the product.”

“When officers attended the report, the suspect tried to escape but was apprehended along with his bag containing more than 10 litres of kwaso.”

Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers in Auki have recently arrested a 20-year-old male person for throwing rocks at a teacher’s house at Alotaa community high school in Lilisiana, Malaita province.

Malaita Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Tex Tafoa says, “the suspect was drunk when he went into the school compound and threw rocks at a teacher’s house. He was then taken to Auki police by the victim.”

He was then charged with Malicious Injuries contrary to section 326(1) of the penal code.

As the national parliament is in the process of determining when the no confidence motion will be debated on the floor, the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) wishes to inform the public that today (Friday 13th December) is business as usual.

You may be aware; a no confidence motion against the Prime Minister was lodged to parliament on Thursday 5th December. The motion is expected to be ready for debate today (Friday 13th December).

Whether parliament will debate the motion on today or not, that day should be a normal day.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is urging Honiara residents to follow the law that requires dark-tinted windows on public service vehicles be removed.

The RSIPF maintained that this is a law and no one should take the law into their own hands.

Earlier, the Honiara City Council (HCC) passed a by-law banning dark-tinted windows on all public vehicles licensed to carry passengers that includes buses, taxis and trucks.

Members of the Correctional Services of Solomon Islands (CSSI) have taken their oath of office as authorised officers to support the RSIPF Police Response Department (PRD) in preparation for their participation in providing security during the upcoming Motion of no confidence and continued on for the festive season operations.

Over 30 plus CSSI officers take their oath to form part of RSIPF operation.

The oath of office was administered by the Commissioner of the RSIPF Mr. Mostyn Mangau for the CSSI officers at Rove Police headquarters on 10 December 2024.

Police in Auki, Malaita Province, recently conducted an operation and raided homebrew outlets in response to calls made by community leaders to curb crimes.

Malaita Province’s Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Chief Superintendent Tex Tafoa, said the raid was carried out after police received information of illegal brewing of home brew (kwaso) that triggered many unwanted behaviours causing fear and threat to women, elderly people and children in the community.

New Zealand Police Inspector Warwick McKee has concluded his deployment to the Solomon Islands.

Inspector McKee was the Team Leader for the Solomon Islands Police Support Programme that has been working alongside and supporting the RSIPF.

He was deployed to the Solomons Islands since May 2022 and leaves after two years and eight months.
