Tulagi police have rescued 28 passengers from a sunken ship between Guadalcanal and Florida islands on 8 September 2024.

The landing craft Adi Wai Tui left Honiara to Tulagi and experienced the sea coming from the bottom of the ship.

Crew members of the ship try to pump out the water but the water coming into the ship is more that water going out and it is getting worse as a result the ship sank.

Tulagi police fast craft with the help of four additional small boats respond to the incident and rescue the passengers and the crew members.

Two children suffered broken legs and arms in the latest traffic accident at Rawake in Makira/Ulawa Province on 2 September 2024.

Report stated that the vehicle was traveling from Nukukaisi village in Central Bauro towards Kirakira town, at a high speed when it veered off the road and collided with a coconut tree.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira/Ulawa Province Superintendent Peter Sitai says, “The vehicle carrying nine passengers (seven adults and two children) hit the coconut tree and overturned.”

Tulagi police have conducted a search and rescue for a missing person after a boat capsized between Guadalcanal and Florida Island on Monday this week.

The two men traveling from Honiara to Leitongo have experienced rough seas and as a result their boat sank.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Inspector George Mouli said, “The 25-year-old passenger uses a container to float on after he empties the petrol from the container.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Guadalcanal Community Policing Unit at Henderson Police Station and the RSIPF-Australian Federal Police (AFP) Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP) visited Henderson Inland Community, last week, as part of their community engagements.

The Henderson inland community is a fast growing and mixed community found on the other side of the Henderson International Airport runway. The event, which was held to bring police closer to communities, was welcomed by community leaders.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Fire and Rescue team at Auki Police Station in Malaita Province responded to a dwelling house caught on fire on 3 September 2024.

The fire severely damaged the primary structure of the house but was contained by the quick action of the fire team that also prevented the fire from spreading to nearby buildings and shops.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Chief Superintendent Tex Tafoa says, “A male person who is a resident of the dwelling house was identified and was found death inside the burnt house.

A total of six hundred plus motor vehicles has been checked last week during a police operation front Kukum traffic and Central Police Station.

Director National Traffic Department (NTD) Superintendent William Foufaka said, “The traffic operation has been conducted by NTD with the support from the Central Response Unit (CRU).”

Director Foufaka said, “A total of 44 vehicles impounded and 44 people arrested while a total of 24 people positive with alcohol presence in their blood.”

A single mother gives birth to a baby boy and after she drowned him in a bucket of water at Sirovanga village in North West Choiseul, Choiseul Province recently.

Taro police received the information and proceeded to Sirovanga to conduct an inquiry as the initial stage of police investigation.

It was alleged that the single mother locked her house and gave birth and drowned the baby in a bucket of water.

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) Commissioner Mr. Mostyn Mangau attended the 51st Pacific Islands Chief of Police (PICP) Conference in Tonga.

The PICP Conference officially opened with a theme, “Our Blue Pacific on the Global Stage” at Fa’onelua Conference Center in Nuku’alofa on 2 September 2024. The theme reflects the commitment of the Pacific police leaders to address key regional policing priorities.
