Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Tulagi are investigating a suicide incident of a 30-year-old female person at Mabulu settlement in Small Ngella.

RSIPF Commissioner Mr Mostyn Mangau said the suicide incident happened on 28 August 2022 at the home of the deceased where she allegedly hung herself with a linen cloth (lavalava).

Commissioner Mangau said the deceased tied a linen cloth on the cross-beam brace on the roof of her house and tied up her neck and hung herself.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested a 38-year-old father for allegedly raping his own biological daughter in east central Guadalcanal.

RSIPF Commissioner Mr Mostyn Mangau said the rape incident happened since last year 2021 and reported to police on 12 August 2022.

Commissioner Mangau said it was alleged that the rape incident happened in different dates and times since last year 2021. After police received the report they went to the village of the suspect and arrested the suspect.

Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have destroyed a total 38 Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) in Taro, Choiseul Province this week.

Commissioner RSIPF Mr Mostyn Mangau said the EOD team managed to render safe those UXOs found during the clearance work on the Taro airstrip in the past weeks. UXOs render safe were ranging from projectiles, mortar bombs and bombs.

Commissioner Mangau said before the render safe operation happened the EOD team sought consent from the Choiseul provincial government to destroy those UXOs.

A total of 11 investigators of the National Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have refreshed their investigation capabilities on crime investigation in a week-long seminar.

The China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) successfully hosted a Criminal Investigation Seminar for the investigators from different units within the NCID in Rove police headquarters from 22 to 26 August 2022.

A Crime Prevention Committee (CPC) at Foau community in Central Kwara’ae, Malaita Province, has launched its by-laws on Sunday 28 August 2022.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF’s) Provincial Police Commander (PPC) for Malaita Province, Leslie Kili, described the launching of Foau CPC’s by-laws as a milestone for the Foau community.

PPC Kili, who was accompanied by Sgt Robert Alegao to witness the launching program, appealed to the Foau CPC to carry out its work with pride and to serve the community by upholding law and order.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and members of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) under the Solomons’ International Assistance Force (SIAF) continue their preparations for the upcoming sitting of Parliament.

Operational fitness and interoperability are key to maintaining the RSIPF’s Public Order Management (POM) capability. Over the weekend, RSIPF and AFP members participated in a route march from Ranadi to Rove Head Quarters as part of the RSIPF preparedness for the next phase of Operation Parliament.

Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) are working with communities to build strong relationships to help maintain peace and security and prevent unlawful activities.

The RSIPF’s National Crime Prevention Department (NCPD) and Honiara Community Policing Team, supported by members of the Solomons’ International Assistance Force, have been meeting with communities to rebuild relationships and trust and work in partnership in the fight against crime in the communities.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team will be conducting a bomb blasting operation in the western province.

Officer In-charge (OIC) EOD Team, Inspector Clifford Tunuki said the task will be conducted at Balallae Island in the Shortland Islands on Saturday 27 August 2022 from 8am to 4pm respectively.

The Community Policing Unit of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in the Western Province have conducted an awareness program at Kuava Village in Vella la Vella Island on 23 August 2022.

This is following a request from east Vella la Vella circuit of the United Church girls brigade coordinator who sees the need for the girls to possess some vital information with regards to law due to the high increase of sexual offences occurring against young girls in the province and other parts of the country.

Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) specialist says the Taro Township area is heavily contaminated with Unexploded Ordnances (UXOs).

This is after EOD experts have safely removed a total of 28 UXOs so far from the Taro airstrip runway. UXOs found ranging from projectiles, mortar bombs and bombs. The latest bomb discovered at the Taro air strip weight about 15 kilogram.
