The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers in the Central Island Province (CIP) have arrested a man who seriously assaulted his wife at Voloa Village, Big Ngella, on Wednesday night.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) CIP Superintendent David Soakai said the wife sustained serious injuries and is currently at the Tulagi Hospital. Arrangements are being made to transfer her to Honiara for proper medical check-up.

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) has received two new police houses worth about 1.5 million dollars from the Ministry of Police National Security and Correctional Services (MPNSC) during a handing over ceremony at Rove Married quarter this morning (25 August 2022).

The two new police houses were funded under the Solomon Island Government to improve the welfare of the police officers.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has farewelled Assistant Commissioner (AC) Mr Joseph Manelugu on 24 August 2022 with a farewell dinner in Honiara.

Supervising Commissioner RSIPF Mr Ian Vaevaso during the farewell dinner said Mr Manelugu is obviously one of the longest serving members of the RSIPF. He has possessed a wealth of experience under his belt during his 36 years of service in the force.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested a 40-year-old father last week for raping his own biological daughter in Makira-Ulawa Province.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira-Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai said it was alleged that the father occasionally had sexual intercourse with his biologically daughter.

PPC Sitai said the incident occurred on separate dates in the month of May, June and July 2022 in Central Makira.

Australian Federal Police (AFP) officers who are part of the Solomons’ International Assistance Force (SIAF) accompanied the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers on another visit to the Koa Hill community last week.

SIAF and RSIPF are building stronger engagements with communities in and around Honiara including Koa Hill.

During their recent joint foot patrol to Koa Hill, RSIPF and SIAF officers had meetings with leaders and elders of the community.

Royal Solomon Islands Police (RSIPF) officers in Taro, Choiseul Province, are cracking down on illegal liquor selling in the province.

On Friday 19th August, Taro police served suspension letters to four liquor licensees and four other people who are illegally selling liquor in their premises.

The liquor licensees and illegal sellers who were served with letters breached sections of the Choiseul Province Liquor Authority’s Liquor Act.

Acting Commander of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF)-Australian Federal Police (AFP) Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP), Heath Davies, handed over seven new marked police vehicles to the RSIPF.

This is an addition to the six vehicles RAPPP recently delivered to the RSIPF with some more expected.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Central Police Station re-arrested four suspects in relation to a murder incident at Vara Creek recently.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Police, Chief Superintendent Jimson Robo said the four suspects arrested previously for grievous harm incident after medical authorities pronounced the death of a 53-year-old male person, police have to re-arrest the four suspects and deal with them.

News of a large number of Unexploded Ordnances (UXOs) detected at the Taro airfield in Choiseul Province is part of activities under the Provincial Airfield Upgrades (PAU) project the government of New Zealand, Australia and Solomon Islands are jointly implementing.

The project is currently working to seal the runway of both the Taro airfield and Seghe airfield in the Western Province.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is investigating the circumstances surrounding an incident in the Kukum area, in Honiara, that resulted in the death of a young person on Tuesday 9 August 2022.

The incident, which occurred at the Florence Young conjunction road, involved a young person being attacked on Sunday 7 August 2022.

Police was informed of the incident and on arrival at the scene they only found the young person lying unconscious and surrounded by a crowd.
