Police raids kwaso in West Honiara

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Central Police Station have confiscated kwaso (homebrew) production during a raid at Tasahe B area last week.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City Police, Chief Superintendent (Supt) Jimson Robo says, “The raid was carried out upon an information received from the community.

Supt Robo says, “When the operation support team arrived at the location the suspect had already escaped and a search was conducted at the suspect’s home.”

Police uproot more 160 plants of marijuana at Ruavatu area last week

A joint Operation between the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) after they have successfully uprooted a total of more than 160 marijuana plants at Ruavatu area last week.

During the operation to uproot the marijuana a 22-year-old-male suspect was arrested and placed in police custody.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province Chief Superintendent Rodney Kuma says, “Uprooted marijuana plants were transported to Henderson Police Station and will be later destroyed.”

RSIPF welcomes 67 new Police officers

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has welcomed 65 new Police officers who have graduated as police constable today (2 December 2022) at Rove Police Headquarters.

The graduates consist of 48 males and 17 females who were selected from different provinces. The patron of the recruit course is Honourable Patterson Oti, Speaker of the National Parliaments of Solomon Islands.

The recruit course ran for 19 weeks with intensive training and mentoring from the Police Academy. Five officers were discharged during the training due to disciplinary and sickness.

Kirakira Police witness launching of by-law in Nukukaisi in Makira- Ulawa Province

The Kirakira Community Policing Team of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force witnessed the launching of by-law at Nukukaisi, West Bauro in Makira Ulawa Province on Friday 25 November 2022.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira-Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai said, the event was successfully implemented through consultations with the Crime Prevention office at Kirakira Police Station and other stakeholders.

Auki Community Policing Team conducts awareness talk at Gwaisusuru community in Central Kwara’ae Malaita Province

Auki Community Policing Team of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force in Malaita Province have conducted an awareness talk program at Gwaisusuru community in Central Kwara’ ae on Sunday 27 November 2022.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Superintendent Leslie Kili said, the awareness talk was based on a series of safe Christmas messages which includes, Alcohol free festive season, Crime free festive season, Drug issue and Domestic Violence.

Make home a safe haven for our families

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has joined other stakeholders in the 16 Days of Activism to battle Gender Based Violence (GBV) in the country as from 25 November 2020.

The 16 days of activism is an annual international campaign that commences on 25th of November with this year’s theme ‘UNiTE! Activism to end violence against women and girls’ and it will continue to 10 December 2022.

The 16 days campaign is used by organisations around the world to call for the elimination of violence against women and girls.

CPLT provide training for NCPD, PCC and Honiara City Front Line Police Officers

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at National Crime Prevention Department in Honiara (NCPD), frontline policing at Honiara City and Police Communication Centre (PCC) have completed a one week training from China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) at Rove Police Headquarter on technics and tactics.

A total of ten RSIPF officers participated in the training which commenced on 14 November and concluded on 18 November 2022 with presentation of certificates.

RSIPF officer ordained as priest

Inspector (Insp) Hugo Maelasi of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) was ordained as an Anglican priest on 27 November 2022.

The Reverend Benedict Loe, Bishop of the Diocese of Guadalcanal and Clergies of the Parish officiated the ordination service at Good Shepherd Parish, Foxwood in North Guadalcanal.

The ordination service was attended and witnessed by parishioners of Lungga Parish, Ghaobata Parish, families and friends.

Yandina Police arrest 12 suspects for roadblock in Russell Islands

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Yandina have arrested 12 suspects for roadblock on 14 November 2022.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Superintendent David Soakai said a group of men from Alocan village set up roadblocks at a logging camp and armed with Knives, Spares and axes.

PPC Soakai said they entered the camp site, threatened them to stop their operation, and demanded the company for SBD $500,000.00 cash.
