The National Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have charged five candidates of the National General Election (NGE) in 2019 who had failed to submit their statement of account over the weekend.

Supervising Director NCID Superintendent Michael Bole Says, “Police will continue to charge those who have been involved in breaching the Electoral Act.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF)’s Fire and Rescue Service has received new firefighting equipment from the Australian Federal Police (AFP).

The essential equipment, worth about SBD$280,000, included firefighting boots, gloves, torches, hoses, hose branches and a generator. The gift from the AFP is intended to help the RSIPF when responding to fire, rescue and hazardous material incidents.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team will be conducting an unexploded ordnance (UXO) demolition (bomb blasting) on Shortland Island in the Western Province from Monday 25 July to Tuesday 26 July 2022.

The operation will be conducted from 8am to 4pm in those two days respectively.

The tasks will be carried out on two specific areas at Nila and Hitou in the Shortlands.

The Royal Solomon Police Force (RSIPF) at the Western Border between Papua New Guinea and Solomon Island (PNG SI) warned drone users to stop flying drones in the area of operation.

The warning came when the police sighted two drones on 20 July 2022 floated at about 60 to 80 metres high above Harapa police post.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) masters team conducted a tour to Tulagi in Central Islands Province early this month (July).

The trip to Tulagi was successful in terms of police partnership with both our internal and external stakeholders.

It was more significant when it was discovered that the Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Island Province operates on the proactive concept by enhancing Community policing engagement, stakeholder cooperation and community consultation.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Kirakira in Makira-Ulawa Province have arrested and charged a-20-year-old male suspect for allegedly attacking a 40-year-old male person with a piece of timber at Kirakira main market on 15 July 2020.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira-Ulawa Province Superintendent Peter Sitai says, “The suspect and other boys have attacked the victim with a piece of timber.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Police Force (RSIPF) at Tulagi have arrested a 44-year-old male suspect for shooting a 33-year-old female victim with cocoa fruits.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Superintendent David Soakai said the suspect had an argument about his burning house with the victim in a cocoa plantation.

PPC Soakai said during the argument it was alleged that the suspect shot the victim with cocoa fruits belonging to the victim several times.

Macedonia Academy in the Koa Hill recently welcomed visiting officers from the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) contingent of the Solomons’ International Assistance Force (SIAF).

The Macedonia Academy opened three years ago, and already has approximately fifty (50) students. The RSIPF and AFP officers visited Macedonia Academy to deliver a policing awareness session to the students and to engage with teachers and members of the Koa Hill community.

As Parliament adjourned for 25 July 2022 the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and members of the Solomons’ International Assistance Force (SIAF) appeal to the Solomon Islands community to peacefully and lawfully engage in the democratic process.

The riots across Honiara toward the end of 2021 were devastating, with lives lost, properties and infrastructure damaged and hundreds losing their jobs. It’s a powerful reminder of the damage riots can cause.
